I struggle with stability on my SP25 8'3" 120 liter board in the chop (I love it when there isn't a lot of chop, but that is rare). I am like 200 lbs (90kg) and it is the same literage as my other board (Steeze 8'10"). I surf it with quobbas in a thruster config, and I was wondering if maybe switching it out for quads with a stabilizer fin would help.

Yes defiantly would make it more stabile ,I am using quads and a Knubster ,on my SPX ,I take the knubster out when its nice
and not so choppy ,its a high performance shape so they do rock from side to side easy ,I'm 100 kgs and have the 8'7 ,great boards

I can't notice the difference that much and unless you do it at the same location on any given day in same waves I would doubt a difference, but as I say to people with this type of question Try it and see for yourself

So it depends what size fin you use ,not so much how many ,
I can put little rear quads in and it will still be as rocky as the thruster .so i use large rears in the shaper fins ,
Maybe try using larger sides or a larger rear ,if your fins are medium ,it could be the problem .
When i shop for fins ,most will give you weight size ,because Im 100 kgs ,XL or Large come up
as the size needed for my weight ,when i punch in a search .

I don't know but I feel the difference in fin set ups surfing on the wave and not when paddling. Maybe a big single fin tracks nice but stability wise I don't feel it.

Interesting. I haven't been surfing on that particular board because of stability issues.... But maybe I'll try and get some more fins to see if it helps. I was trying to sell it, but it's been a struggle, as there aren't so many sup-pers around me. Or just lose some weight? summer is here, so I will have less neoprene pounds.
