It's back, Flatwater for the Masses. YOB Australia is again supporting the Collie Bridge 5500 with over $2000 worth of prizes up for grabs. This event is apart of the Eaton Foreshore Festival, WA's biggest school fete, making this event the perfect family day trip for SUP. The CB5500 is a series of races, 2500m loop, 1500m loop, 1000m and finally 500m in a straight line. You start where you finish giving paddlers a chance to reset in between each event. Points are accrued for each race, and tallied at the end to see who the winners are. All race fees are donated back to the the Eaton Primary School P&C for allowing us the privileged to "own" the river for SUP for the morning. And to cap it off, the top ten fastest paddlers and two wild cards will be chosen to compete for the "Paddle Like You Stole It" Sprint Trophy over two hundred metres, on YOB Australia's school fleet, possibly the fastest their school boards will ever go. Check https://supwa.tidyclub.com/public/events/1414-yob-australia-collie-bridge-sup5500 to enter. There are also rumours of an artistic wake riding demo being on offer this year as well.

Keep those entries coming in.

New course. New format and one of the coolest perpetual trophies you'll see going around. Flat water for the masses.

Sounds awesome. On my own with my son this weekend so don't think I'll be able to paddle but definitely hoping to come down and check out the action :-)

This was a great event last year and I'll be back paddling again this year. But similar to last year, have done bugger all training so once again the last couple of sprints will hurt more than they should!

"Come on, you mad muther suppers, do you want to live forever?"

Just by competing in the this Sundays YOB Australia CB5500, you could earn the right to compete in the final 200m shoot out and win the right to immortality by having your name etched on this perpetual trophy. The shoot out will consist of each divisional winner, and a random draw of paddlers thrown into a Stawell Gift style final sprint, spruiked over the mike to the crowds of the Eaton Foreshore Festival. Capture line honours, and your photo and this trophy will be the centre piece of the YOB Australia store for the next 12 months. What's the equaliser? All competitors will be thrown onto YOB school board in the ultimate peoples one class race, and it will be anyone's race, that's why it's flat water for the masses.

Final info for those looking to enter this Sunday;

YOB Australia have thrown in a prize pool that's closer to $3000 than you might think. Not only just divisional winners, but 2nd and 3rd will also score something for there efforts. But in the true spirit of flat-water for the masses, there will also be a substantial random prize draw for all competitors including 5 carbon fibre Wahoo paddles. Also in the background will be the Eaton Foreshore Festival, WA's biggest school fete, with all the trimmings that an event like this brings, food, drink, sideshow alley, stalls, pony rides etc making this a true family day out.

Registration 0730 - 0844
Race Briefing 0845
Racing 0900 - 1100
YOB Australia 200m Shoot Out 1130
1145 Presentations and thanks for coming

For those with enough fuel left in the tank, keep an eye on those green arrows, maybe a little downwinder on the way back to the metro for some?

This event is just as much about participation as it is about racing. Perfect event for first timers looking to get a feel for what this sport can offer, and possibly the most social race you'll compete in. Hope to see you all there Sunday

p.s. coffee van has been booked to arrive early

What a GREAT day !! The Bunbury Wavemasters and SUPWA excelled again in putting on another awesome event. A huge thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their time to make the day happen ( and miss out on paddling !) So good to see heaps of crew travel from far and wide to participate, and especially stoked to see so many juniors out there having a go - the future of SUP in WA is looking very bright indeed ! A very special thank you to Damian and Trent from Bunbury Wavemasters - top effort guys !!
Sal and I are very proud to be associated with this event for the 2nd year - already looking forward to 2016 !!
