Surf tomorrow in Melbourne? The wind is N/NW and is expected to drop around lunchtime. Early, late, don't care - any suggestions on secret spots/times to head out?

Try poking around Breamlea for beachbreaks. Check from the surf club.
Try Vagg St Breamlea, check the banks there, for a secluded wave.
Try Blackrock. Park near the windmill at 13th, and walk maybe 300m to check.
Try Ocean Grove, just move away from the main carpark / paddle away from the carpark....

I would be surprised if you can't find a decent little wave to yourself amongst that....

If you're feeling really adventurous, head to Eumeralla Scout Camp, and sniff out the trail to the beach... long walk down with a SUP, take food and water, you'll be right !

If the swell is up, try Torquay Sailing Club for a little right hander.

that scout camp you metioned , is that also called grinders?

Westernport may be good tomorrow Oliver. The swell is predicted to jump a bit.

I went down hoping for Big Left this afternoon but there was too much west in the wind so ended up inside Westernport. I didn't think there would be enough swell, but thought I would go in for a bit of paddle anyway.

I ended up at a spot that just kept getting better as the afternoon wore on. Two mals when I first got there, but then had at least 2 hours completely to myself (if you don't count the seals that were doing a bit of surfing too, lol) when they went in...and then only one other mal came out near the end.

Had about a four hour session and made a complete wave pig of myself. Was cramping up all over by the time I came.

I'd love to get down there again tomorrow, but as I was home much later than I said and we have friends for lunch tomorrow, I think it would be pretty brave (no, make that foolish) to try to get in another session tomorrow.

Yes, Grinders. Nat Young and Mark Warren mention it in their books too. No big secret. Some sand on reef, but it can reward you for your efforts.

Breamlea - it's actually the Whittington St track and lookout to check the banks.

Like Rosscoe said Oliver check Flinders but not early ,wait for tide to come in and if no good small westernport mid arvo,
or west coast will be good all day tomorrow,
I can't get out this weekend then it looks like a week of south west wind so make the most of it,

It's 9.30 Sunday morning.. It's already blowing 20 knots North with a little Nor'west in it.. Great for a down wind run from St Kilda to Sandy.

We are meeting at Sandy at 10.30 and will leave St Kilda about 11am.. It should be a good day and Cam will have his blow up sex toy (14' Uli).

I was at a different spot yesterday. Can't get into it from the road and you can't really see it breaking either, so can get less people.

Wish I could get down there - it's just before midday and the wave buoy is reading in the 3 - 5m range at about 13.5 seconds. Looking at 2nd Reef on the cam and looks like all the spots will be working.

I'm sure the West coast is going off, too.

It seems like everything was working today !! Awesome waves. Not massive, just extremely playful. (But double overhead sets at some locations, which is solid, not massive).

Even Fishos had a little wave.

Today on the West Coast (Vic);
- just a matter of choosing your preferred Point Break, and preferred tide. Wind was cutting into some spots between 10 & 1 or so, but otherwise, great ! Wind was mainly N/NNW, and the True North does cut into some of the points though.

I think the final surf sessions of today will actually be the best (ie. right now).

Crack of dawn options tomorrow for locals, depending on what time the SW comes in.

We did two down wind runs today.. It was good..

Just got back, on the way checked out Mericks and there were even people surfing Balnaring, ended up at the good place, hard to find a park, it was chockers. People spread right along the bay. At the good place I shared some chest to head high waves with between 3 -5 short and long boarders. Plenty of waves to go around. Probably one of the biggest days I've seen there, although the wind was a bit of a battle. It looked almost as good as the pics Mike posted a while back.

The world doesn't revolve around Melbourne !!
Without any Internet Research, I'm tipping it's called Western Port, due to the fact that the Port is on the Western Side of that bay.
