Some local Samoan crew rocked up with an acoustic guitar and started singing tunes in language - full Island Style.
There's something about traditional Polynesian music that just seems to work with the ocean - it's effortless, calming and cooling to listen to - and to hear it out on the water was another level of joy.
I reckon it's how the sea breeze would sound if you could play it on guitar and sing it.
Every now and then, the wind would catch the melody and it would drift across to me as I was paddling.
The tunes, the salty slap of the ocean against the board, there were Kites and an Osprey wheeling above - it all made for one of the greatest days on the water I've nearly ever had.
No waves, but the vibe was all time.
I came in a changed man and better for it.
