Waiotahe River mouth and lagoon at dawn....high tide....no wind.....all was good. Then men hiding in bushes made quacking noises and shot at things. I went home.....is called "duck shooting season"

May 1st. Cox Bay, Tofino beautiful spring morning. A few small pealing waves. The board is a 8'7" Sunova Creek, 115 litres. The music is by Grayson Gilmour our nephew from New Zealand who recently became a proud father shortly after moving into their new home in Wellington.

Have never ever caught a kingfish......but one took my lure while I was there. Much more oomph than a kahawai......got it close enuff to board so we could see each other. Then it spat the dummy .....and swam off into that scary ocean. Was small....not even a legal size.
And cute little stingrays that would swim up to you on the beach and accept a fish bit offering. Nice place

finally managed to be brave enough to paddle out at town beach this morning. Tuesday waves were breaking about a quarter of a kay off the beach. Wednesday still "absurdly big". Today still big but relatively civilised. Took naish 11'4. Was going to hold camera in mouth......but seemed more of a priority to put air in mouth

I expect to get some more SUP report and fish story from your place. But you need to breath

Is important to breathe.......surf today pretty small. Took Paddle Surf Hawaii 12'6. Caught heaps of waves......but was running late. Didn't take camera. Sometimes its "such an effort". Will try harder

Fun little bank just north of Burleigh, waist to head on the odd set. Ran a bloke over who couldn't decide if I was going right or left, ( I was paddling straight 1st to get on it) so he decided to just sit there and let me come. He apologised, I made sure he wasn't too banged up and all was good!

maybe you should have apologised?.......you could have stopped paddling for wave if a risk of someone being injured because of your wave catching tactics?.......but "whatever"

I see your point, and no. And its not the first time I've encountered people that just sit there like "rabbits in the headlights" and watch you come at them and not bother to move. And this isn't only on the sup. When I'm in the same situation self preservation and courtesy gets me moving out the way.
Also, on the sup once you pick up momentum its like being on the gravy stroke, near impossible to stop and as you are going straight until you get some face the path is pretty predictable.
Let Darwinism run its course for those to apathetic to move.

I would prefer they just sit there, makes it a lot easier to either go around them or cut inside them, everyone stays safe. If you can't control your vessel you should be surfing alone and not around other people.
