Manly was going OFF this morning. Was epic before the howling westerly came in and made it feel like paddling a house brick. No fellow SUP brothers were out there......

Middle of Mullawarra beach at 8.15 am - offshore in nw wind - waist to shoulder high beach break - further north it was overhead and clean but too many sneakers - got cleaned up the other day trying to sit in the takeoff zone - only two of us out then - three this morning and was very enjoyable on the new board - now starting to get used to it - great on waves, still a bit iffy to relax out the back if choppy!

Caught probably a hundred waves at town beach today......12 waves before anyone else paddled out......and then never more than two other people in the water. Did do my research. Left home in the dark dark......looked at town......looked at makorori point in the dark.......back to town and paddled out still fairly dark (had my wetsuit on of course). Grabbed the camera later. Quite small surf but fun :)

4.5 hour session! Nice waves, strong (at times) off-shore wind, and crowds. But then my battery went flat (mine and the GoPro's), the crowds left, the waves got bigger, and that left just three of us to enjoy. Cracking session! But I am feeling it today...

Manly, Manly...Manly. What can I say. It has been an epic week and this morning was just pumping. Atlantis Runway did its job. Noseriding 5' monsters is sooooo much fun...............but I probably should have taken the Sunova Acid out....

A great morning on Middle Harbour to run downwind on my SIC FX. My FX with the VMG 44 fin is surprisingly stable in the bumps!

Summer crowds are gone making the solo sessions again possible. A bit overhead and clean. At this size the few spots that work well fill up with the regulars. They pick the wave quality/paddleout over the crowd hassles. Though the time dodging closeouts and under water was significant, it was still a hassle free stoker.

Makorori Point this morning...a bit disorganised but no one out so all was forgiven. Saw the towball surfing clubhouse lefts in town. Looked punishing. The point was having a "paddle out without getting your hair wet" day if you timed it right

"Pro Hours" with the HMB hard core crew. A bright dawn sun over the Beauy cliffs made way for the usual Melbourne spring weather offerings by 7.30am. Forecast hail and snow to low levels later in the day. Winter / Spring continues unabated...from about last April!

dunno how you'd keep your hair dry surfing those photo's...


only dry for the paddle out.....but point can be quite gentle and kind.....unless a crowd comes and you move further into the initial breaking peak.....and it all ends badly
