i can give you my twisted view on wetsuits. I love top of the line suits...........I can not stand paying full price for them.......
people are always buying wetsuits that don't fit them and then selling them after little or no use. If you watch carefully and know exactly what your size is (it is not complicated) you can find brand new suits for half price. As far as thickness find out what the prone surfers in your area are using in the winter and go about 1 mm thinner for sup surfing. I have three very good Patagonia suits (R1, R2 and R3) these are pre yulex. My winter suit is a new Oniell Psychotech 5.5/4 and it is amazing! Best suit I have ever worn. Light, warm, flexible, easy to get on and off and drys quickly. I could go on and on about how much I like this suit! Get a good wetsuit. It makes a big difference.

Had a quick look at the discount surf store near my house. They had a big range of o neil superfreak only 2mm found one that was 3/2mm. I was thinking one with long legs and short sleeves but not sure if 2mm would be very effective...

Westsuits are great the top of the line stretchy ones are my favourite too. I love quicksilver super stretchy long sleeve steamer. The ripcurl ones are super reliable too but are bank breakers.
Have you considered the wetsuit top and wetshort bottom this gives you a little bit more versatility. I prefer this method. One wetsuit long sleeved top, 1 pair of long pants and one pair of shorts. I am a large potton and a 2XL top so this helps greatly with the fit.

Yeah because of being acclimatised...latley its been in the mid 30's with full on humidity -yesterday on the sunny coast was 19 degrees in the afternoon coldest feb day since forever I know someone that lit they're pot belly

Ive got a 2mm long arm short leg for winter on the goldie keeps me warm enough. Oneil make good wetsuits.

But If u must I highly reccomend Aleeda.Pretty local to where you are I bought one for $100 new over a decade ago used constantly over 10 winters only replaced it at the start of last winter $145 new .cannot fault them for quality or price,

Nugdam - what a weird name, anyway mate - no wetsuit required to SUP on the Sunshine Coast, for distance and flatwater paddling.

For SurfSUP, nothing more than a short leg, short sleeved springsuit or shortjohn required. I"M 63 and don't wear a wettie except for a shortjohn for SurfSUP in winter.

Go and see ZEE wetsuits in Noosa, in Venture St. Locally made for Sunshine Coast conditions.

Isn't a love of the ocean supposed to be the point here?? It's not about who feels the cold or who doesn't. Who gives a crap if someone needs a wetsuit to feel comfortable and someone else is happy in boardies?? Just get out & have fun. Whatever choice you go with, I'd recommend short arms and super flex material in the shoulders. The slick neoprene on chest & back is also good for deflecting wind better (than normal neoprene) from your torso when you're standing up in a breeze when it's coldish

I've been SUP surfing on the coast for 3 winters now. It's the air temp and wind chill that has you need a wetsuit. The water temp is fine, I sometimes get in the water to warm up out of the wind in the early morning.

If if it's not very cold or windy then I like a 1mm long sleeve top with my boardies. For those colder mornings with a breeze or if you're out for a long sesh having to wait a while for sets then my 3/2 Ripcurl E-Bomb steamer is awesome. Flexi around the shoulders chest and upper arms, warm without being hot. The extra cost has been well worth the comfort and enjoyment factor.

I've had a few mates buy cheap suits and they're always the most reluctant to get in or first to get out in winter.

hunt around for last season suits just before the new season starts. That way you can get a top of the line suit for the price of a bottom of the line.
