Just a note that may help.
I am an older SUPer. I have some balance issues. I bought a 14x24" Deep Dryft and spent most of my time trying to balance rather than getting forward speed. I decided to go to a 28". Ibought a Sunny King flat deck 14x28 board and it was al lot more stable and my times improved immediately, but the board is very basic and a fair bit draggy and still a bit tippy.
I decided to move upmarket to a SIC RS SF 14x28, with a dropped deck. Not even a full dugout but 80mm closer to the water level. The salesman at the time said I could probably go to a 26", because of the dropped deck. The board is incredible stable and I now see I should have listened to the salesman ( makes a first). The 26 would have been a little lighter, a little faster and well within my stability range.
I next bought a Starboard Waterline ( what a superb board!!!) . It also has a 60mm ( should be a bit lower IMHO) "dugout". Nominally it is 14x28 but because of the hull crossections it's waterline is very narrow with overhang for secondary stability. Definitely flat water only!
I am about to move to a full dugout 14x25.5 ONE Edge Pro 2.0. The much lower standing height should be as stable as my 28er's. I suspect at my balance ability, that is probably as narrow as I can get.
Take home message is the raw width is not an absolute. The ability to get you weight active points at or below the waterline are as important. And the primary and secondary stability of the paddler/system also.

Ready to get something lighter and a little faster .Have tried the glide and starboard allstar 14x 28 .Felt nice and stable. Forgot to mention .I use to paddle regularly up until about three years ago but now its time to get back in the water so to speak .Im 61 years young about 178 cm & 110 kilos whos balance is not as it use to be .So a stable & a light board is important . As mentioned maybe you have one you dont use anymore or you might know of someone who has one .Thanks John
