Hey everyone, thought the racers among us might find this interesting...

Jim Terrell (the founder of Quickblade Paddles) is probably one of the best sprint SUP racers out there. He's 47 but consistently beats guys half (or even a third) his age.

One of the reasons is he's a four-time Olympic sprint canoer. The other reason is he loves to experiment with new equipment...

Check out the video below of his weird-looking new concept race board. The race footage is from the recent Silver Blade Regatta
www.supracer.com/results-2012-silver-blade-regatta/ , where he won both the 200m and 2,000m races.

He's also written a quick post that gives us some great insight into his technique and equipment testing. Pretty cool stuff!

What do you think?

I have watched it a couple of times, the sunken deck is a nice idea and is obviously proven. I don't see it as a huge departure from the norm though, just my opinion. happy to be told i missed something.

didn't show much of the board......so not sure what is so different?

I think the sprint discipline could get quite popular....we do 1.9km time trials and we are pretty slow in comparison...

Good to see some more pics , obviousley his design is heavily influenced by sprint canoes. I wonder what his top speed is in flat water.
