Was hopin to go surf the wave pool with my boys ! no sups allowed ! So i said i'll not take a paddle ! No sups allowed ! What about long boards ? Yep there allowed ! Ffs my sup is 7.11 ! Is this discrimination ?

I've surfed there and in all honesty it would be very difficult on a sup, it was carnage enough on boards, as they fire it up the first wave creates a plunge type of affect and sucks you into the return chute ( which has cyclone fencing along it) once the first wave goes through its just go go go paddling over into position. Hard to explain fully but it took some adjusting.

They'll never allow Sup's there IMO.

Water gets too choppy after 2-3 waves on a set. So the only way would be to limit SUP surfers to 5-6 riders on each side which means they'd have to pay 3x what a prone surfer does to do it. Not going to happen.

On the other hand if someone were to build surf ranch style setup that would be sick

The problem with wave pools are the chop created by the backwash.

To get glassier conditions you have to wait longer between triggering the next wave. So less rides per hour, so less income (or more expensive entry fees).

What you see in in a lot of videos are private sessions booked by pros with a very low wave count. It would be too expensive to run a pool with this setting for the general public.

So, yes, you can surely have SUP sessions in a pool. But you will have to rent the pool specifically for this, I guess with a group of other SUPers.
