A simple solution is to use:
- two leash strings, of a slightly different length so one wears out before the other to act as a warning
- Dyneema cords, both extremely strong and abrasion-resistant.
I am yet to break one. For comparison, the built-in one of the O&E One leashes could break after just 10 sessions in some power (and I am not a big wave rider).
Sanding a bit the edges of new leash plugs is also worth it, to be sure there is no sharp edge there.
