Hi guys

I'll be in Bali for a week in March and I'm planning to do some SUP in quality waves.

I would love to score some classic waves on the West Coast of Bukit but I know it's unrealistic at that time of the year. I went there 5 years ago and got some great 4-8 sessions (shortboard surfing) with light-offshore wind but is was during the beginning of October.

Which places do you recommend for March?

My criteria is good waves, good hotels (because of my wife, if it was up to me I'll stay in cheap surf camps) and a location that would enable me to do short drives (to the West Coast, Canggu, Keramas, Nusa Dua, Ubud).

We stayed in Sanur in March 2 years ago. Behind the Sanur beach hotel. Offshore every morning wat surf every day with arpund 5 spots to choose from within paddeling distance. About 20mim paddle to the reef. Just check your tides. It sucks dry on low and onshore im the arvo. So you need high tides im the morning. Check with Jankie he is the local guru.

March is east coast time. All west coast is still cover in trash!

Sanur or Nusa Dua or Serangan and if you are really crazy you can try around Keramas!!!

At the moment Sanur is the easiest place to stay as with the new high way you can go reach all spot north and south in 30 minutes..
And we have some of the best SUP waves of the Island just a short paddle away from the beach.

Since it is to far for surfers to paddle to the reef there were only SUPs with the occational boat with mostly beginners and intermediates, so the vibe was great - best SUPPING of my life, Jankie can also arrange accomodation at a good prive give him a PM.

Thanks. I really need some waves and good weather. It's been the worst winter ever in Portugal (except if you are GMac). It's been non-stop storms for over 2 months: huge waves, howling winds and pounding rain!

PS. Yesterday at our spot there were about 30 Norwegian chicks learning to Surf...
Vibe was definitively good!!!!

Just a small suggestion to people that come to Bali for SUP.
If you want to SUP stay where you want to do it!!!
Traffic is bad... Go and come to Sanur from Seminyak take 2 hours and you end up spending more $$$ in taxi then in your board rental..
And Kuta, Legian, Seminyak this time of the year SUCK.. You can't even go to the beach as they are full of trash due to the Westerly wind/currents...

Also SUP is best when no wind so the good time is always early early morning with start between 07:00 to 09:00 depending on the tides.

I'm going to stay in Sanur and probably dive around for some bigger surf (I'm renting a car). There'll be no Norwegian chicks for... I'm bringing my wife.
