Connors new weapons.. I wonder how different they really are to the ones in the shops??

Are they radically different to the Turtle Bay All Star?

does not appear to have the dug out section?

The one on the left looks different to the right but maybe I just need my glasses.

I dunno about radically different now I think about it with the new supaa rules. I was first thinking they must be super light and maybe the dimessions would be custom to Connor

From what I can see in old pictures Connor doesn't seem a fan of the dug out usually going for a flat deck

one on the right looks super thin and low volume...

I am no expert but it doesn't look like the cobra factory....

Turtle Bay off the shelf has no dug out section.

The one on the left appears to have a wider nose than the standard Allstar.

Probably prototypes, but broadly speaking (i.e. flat deck, piercing nose...) they don't look too far away from the current 2014 AllStar Turtle Bay that I've got... though I'm guessing one may be a 14' version? Got no idea how many subtle changes there are from a couple of pics - but i think you're right about the nose looking a little wider.

I think those pics might have been taken inside Brian Szymanski's workshop in Encinitas (a little bit north of San Diego) - I got a board fixed there a couple of years ago (2012) and the place looks familiar.

That was about when the 2013 range started to filter out, and though something similar to the 2012 BOP board was omitted from the 2013 range, he showed me a few different proto's similar to the BOP (a little thicker and narrower) that he was working on for Connor and Zane at the time - guessing they were the early proto's for this year's turtle bay.

Earlier that year he'd paddled molokai as a team with Dave Rasta using a 14' proto with a completely flat deck (I'm hoping one of them makes the production line one day too).

From what I gather, the current production model Turtle Bay is essentially the same as the proto board Connor and Zane raced on in the World Series throughout 2013. It's 218L volume with a listed rider weight max of 85kg. Worth noting the listed board weight is 8.9kg for the carbon so that would be illegal under the proposed SUPAA rules.

There is no 14' Turtle Bay.

Looks good I think I like Connors deck pad better than the two strips though.
Looks like I need to train hard over winter and drop 5 or 6 kgs to be a comfortable weight for one though. Ha.

According to Chase at SUPAA: The rule weighs are without the fin. They are also planning an onsite procedure(weights) for adding weight to underweight boards. I neglected to ask about any do it yourself weight additions.

The few first pics look like a prototype board with a center handle? That's the one thing I wished they carried over from the 2013 All Stars. Not a fan of the double handles on my 14' x 26.5".

do what Lotus did in F1. They had a water compartment to bring them up to weight, said it was for brake cooling. Dumped it during race, topped up at end... rules are guidelines or they are motivation for creative thinkers....

Really? That's one thing I love about the 2014 over the 2013 - you can put multiple handles wherever you like.

I like both... reckon they should have the handle In the middle (like on the surf sup's) to make it easy to carry if you're walking a long way with it ... But keep the moveable side handles as well as they're great for handling /dragging your board in a bop race.

Could even consider the new spongy recessed handle in the middle so it's not in the way if you want to doo some prone paddling/cross training on the board too.

Also it's not too difficult to get a repair guy to drop in a couple of plugs for a centre handle like you can see on keale's board - we did the same with the old 2012 Bop boards that didn't have any handles except the recessed carry one.

I have no excuses not to as Brian's shop is just down the road. But I never keep boards as long as I think and I am already thinking about switching to a 25.5":)

Those look a lot like the board Connor was using at BOP 2013. Some kind of Turtle bay with a muuuuuuch wider tail.
