Scenario !!!
Two guys agree to split the peak, lets call one guy Matt Grainger and the other Appsy. Matt calls the left, Appsy deciding to split the peak decides to go right. Then someone lets call him goatman whos paddling out the back at the time, swings around wedging himself in between, drops down behind appsy and hits him in the back with his sup.?? That's why I expressed my frustration out in the water. Some crew are good at hassling and some aren't.

yes but it was all in good sportsman ship wasnt it?

Haha u guys crack me up. Sportsmanship??? Yeah getting hassled that much a competitor gets hit by a Sup due to hassling that's classic. There was more hassling in that final then a brazilluan wqs.

I would call paddling from outside to inside someone as they are paddling for a wave (ie snaking) to be hassling. I would say someone turning to go left straight at someone who is already on a distinct right hander, hassling.

But being well on the inside of someone and getting a wave off them in a surfing comp is not hassling - possibly frustrating for the person who is a bit wave starved though.

PS: who got hit by a SUP?

Firstly, no-one got hit by a Sup! [Edit] I would have noticed something like that as I was sh!tting myself we were gonna connect why is why I went as high as I could to avoid a collision once you swung back left.

Check the video at 3:05 it's all there!

Sorry mate didn't overhear the agreement to split the peak.

Your frustration was identical to the semi when you blew up in that one.

come on all is fair in love and war and lets face it all the guys in the final including myself wanted to win yep WIN not second not 5th first yep u no it.
And everyone out there was trying to get the inside and the best set wave! god the amount of times i had to pull back as someone was inside me too many!
Anyway i was first hand witness to what appsy is refering to and you did decide to split the peak out the back but goatie was in the middle and really he got himself there and really he could of gone either way well done to him for getting himself there.
i dont think you should call people out on a public forum and be negative towards someone beceause they got the better of u in a heat you guys are both great talented surfers and good blokes so what ever happened in the water should stay in the water.
AND yes if could be on the inside for every set wave i dam well would!

Simple. If you don't want to get hassled, snaked, frustrated etc - don't compete at the top level. Looked at video and it seems as though Goaty was given an opening - don't expect he is not going to take it when it could be the difference between winning the Snowy or not. Lets face - he aint getting younger!

i'm late on this, but loving it. bad goat/snake man.the one time i surfed with the man, i noticed he had a passion for paddling up the inside. i was hoping a couple of nice set waves would fix that.here's one way to look at it mp did mr up big time in the stubbies years ago. he said he was like a rabbit in the headlights, but he credited that to end up being the making of him. a well known pro put occy through the hoops early too. goatie don't back off, give um heaps. make the most of your time mate
cheers

I think crew have mistaken what I wrote. It wasn't a whinge. As for calling goaty out on a public forum I'll think you'll find the most negative thing I wrote was he hassled me. Which really shouldn't be taken to heart, as I know you Syd guys r always on this thing. I just replied to a comment that u guys wrote saying hi nice and friendly it was in the line up. Take a lighten up pill. As I really haven't taken the hassling to heart to much. Sorry if writin I was hassled in a comp in a public forum is a heavy thing to do. I will buy anyone tissues for crew I offended.

up until a few years ago, you could still score not so crowd waves mid day ish mid week at popular spots, but it getting very rare these days. any uncrowded d bar -forget it. i have dream of sup ping d bar, but even when it's tiny there are still to many surfers to get away with it unless your luke egan or something
cheers

just want to say I love everyone haha

Beau got two bombs pretty much straight away. Long rights. He surfed his bigger Sup with a really nice style. He's only a little fella but he's been longboardin for awhile. I was riding my new 8'2 which is good to turn but burns the f... Out of my legs. I'm going back up in size for the state titles. I'm also tryin to organise a Sup comp for sth cst after state. I'll b sending out a "who's keen soon".
