The Snowy McAlister Winter Festival is on this long weekend - 12, 13 & 14 June 2010.

Here is a link to the program for the event (11Mb PDF):
mmbc.info/

The Snowy is the longest running SUP event in Sydney (this is its third year) and attracts some big names in our sport from the Manly area and surrounds.

Check out the first round draw here (1.6Mb PDF):
mmbc.info/

With big waves, sunshine and off-shore winds - it would be well worth getting down to Manly beach, this weekend, to check it all out.

Generally fills up pretty quick for all catagorys from what I know.

Don't know if there's going to be a big swell at Manly this weekend, from what I remember it's held in the same same spot as the Manly Longboard Club comps which is half way between the pipes, surfed there this evening was generally pretty small with some sets coming though. With the south/south west winds the larger waves should get blown by.

It's under knee high at Queescliff at the moment.

The Dolphins are taking advantage of it there's a pod of about 10 - 15 three meters from the shore line at the moment. The Sprout Daily photag was down there so there should be some good pictures of them around mid day early afternoon.

Looks like 5 man as the first heat has Stuart and so does the second, so probably a typo.

Surfs been pumpin here as well, flat this morning but due to increase rapidly this arvo. Forecast is for dead south which doesn't get in to Mid Styene as much as some spots so will depend on how big it gets and the all important period. Banks the other day weren't handling 4-5 foot (Mac-ho size) so probably don't want it too large.

The swell has hit down here again. Sup'd a really nice secret point break this afternoon. Three foot and not a drop out of water. My new 8ft 2 Laguna Bay swallow tail went off. Feels like im riding my normal short board. Its so light. Tullys (laguna bay shaper) has got the weight perfect.

Cant wait for the snowy now Ive got the cob webs out. Hopefully I wont be handin over the title.

Pete, there might be a spot if you want to grab it. Stu Murray is in Hawaii for BoftP!
They already have a wait list though.

Just looking through the program looks like you guys up there are in for a fun three days.
I know the surfing is the main focus but was wondering in there sup race the length is only up to 12ft so does this mean boards like Casso's new 12'6" Custom won't be in the running,

Cheers.

Does he know that Stuart Murray is in heat 1 AND heat 2 - and is not coming now? If so that probably makes 4.

Good little waves down Manly Beach this morning - still in the waist to head high range.

Looks like people that came for the snowy are starting to head out for a bit of practice - trimming, nose rides and head dips galore going on when I finally came in. Couple stand ups about but not many.
