For the fourth year Starboard is the sponsor of the Stand Up Paddle division in The Doctor and how the event has progressed from the first year, not just equipment or numbers, but now also in the prize money.

I think I am pretty save in saying this would be the only SUP event in Australia with cash prizes of $10,000 added to this Starboard is also the major sponsor of the Ocean Series in Sydney, which will have as a prize and airfare to Perth to compete plus a brand new Starboard to compete on and take home.

Yes, it is correct if you first over the line on a 14' you will win $1,500 plus $2,500 $4k in total.

I saw the doctor is one of the qualifying races for the stand up world series, and as I was lead to believe their qualifying category is 12'6 so if someone wants to try and get points they do the 12'6 division or if they want to try and win bigger money they should do the 14' division, is that correct?

I don't know for sure, but the latest provisional schedule I've seen for the world series now has the WA leg at Yallingup on 24-25 March, rather than Freemantle in January, so maybe it will be a separate event to The Doctor?

Of course not! Just makes sense that is where the most money is, so to make it a fair rounded competition it makes sense that everyone else should be on 14's.

1st overall is not an option for me unfortunately. Jacko won on a 12 6 last year taking 2 prizes, good on him but it thins the prizes out for plodders like me :-(

No disrespect to DJ, he looked after me when I visited Melbourne ,but I would rather (and am looking forward to) the likes of Jacko, Kelly, Pete Dorries, Jake Jensen Sam Parker, Andy Davies, Dave Kissane and all those guys coming over. They are the ones that will put this race on a level that is up there with some of the worlds best.

Hopefully the support will follow through to local competitions and help to develop the racing scene over here in the west.

The great prize money should attract the top guys as will its developing reputation.
As we all know DJ has been great for promoting the sport, especially downwinders. I was speaking to jonathon C last year as to whether he make the trip over for what is shaping up to be biggest downwind race in Australia. what do you think DJ?
