The 2013 17'4'' SIC Bullet I know you breezes only have a 12'6'' or 14ft Downwind SUP mentality. I'm a DieHard Unlimited Downwind SUP Paddler I've just been talking with Mark Raaphorst he told me anybody wanting a 17'4'' Bullet will cost them $4,775.00 US dollars.
Downwinding is starting to become a rich mans sport.
Anybody that has purchased a Bullet in the past will get extremely good money for there secondhand Bullet or all there money back + more.

Is that price delivered to Australia? For that price, I'd like to see Mark Raaphorst deliver it personally.

the boards from hawaii are dearer than the ones imported form the cobra factory.

most 17'4 bullets in australia are from cobra. off hand i think they are $3500 plus ish. when you look at the le naish prices and starboard carbons, the bullets are great valve

dw must be looking to sell a board or two to make way for something newer

second hand cobra bullets about $2000 ish depending on age and conditions.

you will lose on any board when you sell it and that's a fact of life.

these days everything you buy has automatically devalued up to a third as soon as you walk out the shop door.

don't buy a bullet as a investment

The main difference is the Maui fabricated boards are built to customer specs etc.
and can be hollow carbon or solid core up to you and they have colour options etc.

ignorance is bliss Radman Too Funny. My Bullet is 100% hand shaped from a professional shaper. Molded vacuumed bagged boards from a cobra factory in China are slower.
You don't see Mick Fanning or Joel Parkinson getting there surfboards from 15 Ave Palm Beach. They get there surfboards from a professional custom shaper.

come on phil, you can't compare 15 ave boards to the cobra bullets. mark wouldn't allow the sic name to them otherwise. i was told he spent 3 months at cobra setting them up.

they are still a very very good board. not everyone can afford to spend 6 grand plus bring one in from hawaii.

Ignorance clearly is bliss, moulding and vaccum bagging refers to different stages of the production process. Most boards custom or not are likely vacuum bagged. Moulding, regardless of what you think of it, is the only way to accuratly reporduce a known good shape. And the Cobra factory is most certainly not in china and can't be compared in anyway to a poor quality Chinese rip off factory.

Lacey it's not about the money. I as well don't have 6 grand. ( If you wanna play you have to pay ) But you get what you pay for. I for one will always go for a custom shape.
All custom boards, it dose not matter what brand they are, are better than any board made from cobra like I say you get what you pay for. TRUE

Custom boards have defects too. Hard to send it back to SIC. Radmans hollow F16 has a loose batton and my hollow Aircore has a few imperfections. Both from Hawaii so fixed here not sent back.

The 14s are faster here as well. Would love to ride a bullet in Hawaiian conditions though.

You had your board up for sale for ages Phil. No luck?

Phil, I think you're confusing Cobra production with Asian production in general. One mistake is that Cobra is not in China, it's in Thailand.

Trust me when I say that I have spent considerable time at both Cobra and in Chinese surfboard factories and there is a huge difference. Most of it has to do with technology. The rest has to do with materials and Quality Control.

Like it or not Cobra would have more advanced technology than 99.9% of custom factories globally. TRUE

it is about money- $3500 v $7000. for most its a no brainer. sure the hawaiian board would be better, particularly if you want custom, but most of us aren't the mick fanning's and parko's of dw ing. the difference is not worth $3500.

phil you've had a custom f16 up for sale for years on the breeze. started at $5000 plus or so. last i saw it was $4000.

don't know if you have sold it or given up, but thats a huge deprecation.

what you have stated and what the reality is, well its two different things.

i would like a custom too, but they are well and truly out of most people budgets.

like you said they are a rich mans toy now

ps have you tried a cobra bullet

pps a moulded hollow bullet isn't going to be a custom unless you are filthy rich and can pay for a one off mould- highly unlikely

I decided not to sell the custom 17ft f16 I had it for sale for $3,500 I'm an ideate for putting it up for sale I should not have put it in the for sale site as I don't really want to sell it and I left it on there for ages (at the time I guess I needed some money) it's such a magic board and it's the only one off it's kind in Australia I only paddle it when the winds are 25+ knots. Mates whom I've given a go, get blown away how good that board goes.

Those hollow f16 have died they are just full off faults and are a very slow board. I got one in July 2007 when I defected from 18ft Paddleboarding after my first tour of Maliko and saw Stand Up for the first time. After I purchased the f16 I met Mark Raaphorst for the first time and found out he was a shaper that hand shapes f16's if I would have know that I would not have purchased a hollow vacuum bagged board. Mark Raaphorst knows I hate those boards. So I was an ideate for not doing my home work first.

Yep I've paddled a Bullet from cobra I'm just not a fan.

Yep a 14ft made from cobra is way faster than a hollow SIC f16

hahaha Classic; well good point DJ maybe not 90%. but a certain percent are. Why is it every time you walk into a SUP shop to have a look, most off the imported board whether there from China or Thailand it doesn't matter too me ( same horse different jockey ) the bloke behind the counter will come up and say these SUP's have been discounted due to manufacturers defects in this SUP.

Mark Raaphorst made me a custom f18 once in 2009 it was sent to Australia and it had the biggest defect so Mark had to make me another f18 and send it to Australia at no cost to me.

That's really a funny one Phil. Can you explain is why last year you didn't like the last custom bullet you ordered from Mark to a point that you swapped it back for a bullet made in Thailand?
