Awesome stuff. Interesting he's the only guy out. The Bower and Queensy Bomby had plenty of crew going for it on Monday.

I cant imagine the paddle out at North Av being too much fun when a sneaker set pops up and pings you over the rocks!

Wasn't that bad getting out. It was the 15' rights coming back at the left from somewhere out to sea that were stealing the show.

Saw some hipster kid getting one of the waves of the day. Hit a bounce coming off the top, but held in there. Stunner!!!!

North Avalon holds size really well, that is a rather large gun tom is riding. Size is hard to measure, what do you reckon, 15-20. Thats some of the biggest avalon I have seen ridden. As for queenscliff I am pretty sire you would want a tow out there. Its big but totally readable with the channel.

TC's first wave is 20ft face on the takeoff - he's about 4ft high crouched up like that, as he's only 5"6' or so anyway. 20ft face makes it about 10-12ft....doesnt it? All this talk of 15ft or even 15-20ft just seems a bit excessive based on the photos and vid that I've seen online......the photos I saw of Gordon's bay looked like they might have been 12-15ft but it pulls in 110% of east/NE swell, plus it's below sea level.

i know there was a lot of hype about the swell, but all the trawling I've done for footage doesn't really seem to back it up save for a few notable exceptions which are swell magnets. Did it peak at 15ft? Does anyone have the graphs, numbers etc about how long it lasted and how big it was? The manly hydraulics buoys didn
t really seem to show it that big for long.....

A 17metre wave height record was registered on the Eden WaveRider buoy on Monday 6 June. Here is a link to the story in the Australian...............

It was an event everyone will long remember whether it be for the swell, surf, coastal erosion, wind, rain or flooding along the entire coastline.

No need for a tape measure fellas, I was just curious given the range of calls and numbers being thrown around. Surfershane you didn't mention 20ft but pumpjockey did. NTAA I was aware of the eden buoy reading, but I was also told the swell peaked through the night down in gods country.

ive since been in touch with an extremely reliable source with Hawaiian experience who assures me it was every bit of 15ft around Wollongong on the Monday. He sent me a couple of photos of Tuesday and weds, one of which was a solid 12ft.

weve had a bit of a run of swell down here too, and I've heard some interesting numbers thrown around, so these days I take much of it with a grain of salt.

however, in is case I am humbled and duly apologise for calling the size of anyone's gonads into question.

G'day Tang Sandon Point would have been PUMPING last weekend in the 15ft range easy. I surfed that Point a lot in 1976/77 I have relatives that live in Austinmere, I even went to school there for 6 months. I remember walking into the Headlands Hotel at 15yo and buying my first schooner over the bar "The Good Old Days"

I've seen Sandon Point 15ft of perfection many a times best wave on the South Coast I surfed Sandon a few times at 10ft+ on a 7ft Single Fin (no crowds back then) I have a big scar on my nose from headbutting the reef at Sandon on a big 10ft+ day it nearly ripped my nose right off.

Even the Southside of Sandon the Left is World Class surfed that as good as you can get it.

Yep it's a beautiful wave, Downwinder. Strangely my mate said it was a bit funny and not picking up the same amount of swell as other places, which I found hard to work out, as I'd have expected the same thing.
