What sort of space are you working with and how many boards?

I used some 70 x 35 drilled some holes and cut broom handle for the dividers. Bought some cheap pool noodles from Kmart to line the broom hand and timber. It only holds 3 boards but works well and does not take up much space.

You could easily put some wheels on it to make it mobile.

I just use 2 shelve units with 3 shelves each from Bunings, cheap as:

Leave them apart enough to be able to put the nose of the board inside one of them and then reverse towards the second one.
Works if your boards have the same size.

As usual.... I go with the less complex.

My rack !!! Ikea table legs, $5 set, and some pool noodles ohh and new ebike and SUP trailer ..the remote peak explorer, no crowds for me this summer.

18mm ply this one screwed into a brick pilar or Ali/timber cleat to fix to the wall.

I bought BoardRax just over 2 years ago. They are free standing horizontal racks on wheels that can lock. A guy sells them out of Narrabeen. I think I found them on Gumtree.

Would think they are definitely more expensive than a DIY rack but I needed something free standing and figured over a few years the extra $$$ wouldn't be bad.

They are exactly what I wanted. So simple to assemble (match the #1 with #1 and screw in, match the #2 with #2 and screw in etc) and have lasted really well. Normally have 3 SUPs, a longboard and some paddles on it. Never looked like that was too much. Really easy to move around to clean the garage too.

Like I said there are probably plenty of cheaper options but they did what I needed.

A version where the boards would be not vertical but slanted may be the solution for SUPs longer than a room/garage height.

Sorry, misinterpreted - the boards lie horizontal on the rack so room height isn't an issue
