Yeah what's the story with the drop in at 2.46 ...? and a nice case of snaking as well.

Where I was filming was close to the competitors area and a lot of them were commenting how difficult it was. Sunset is a huge takeoff area. Having said that I too would love to see our top Aussies out there mixing it with those guys.

No drop in..... it was after the heat ended.

That was Peyo Lizarazu and in my opinion was the standout surfer. His backhand turns reminded me of a young Wayne Lynch. (showing my age)

Thanks Brad, yeah it was great to see it and be able to photograph it. Few waves at Oney this morning.

Sorry Phil didn't realise you took the vid. Great job. And yeah those backhand bottom turns of Peyo's remind me of Lynchy too.

I expected a much higher standard than what was shown, especially in waves that I would've thought were perfectly suited to SUPs.

So it's only a drop in during heats in a comp? Just a kook, kook move IMHO. There was more than one occasion when if the guy with right of way fell it could've ended up pretty hairy, and he came close at least once. Unless the dropper-inner was saying, well, the heat's over so mate, you're only allowed to cruise in on this one since I'm sharing it with you. Way I see it is after the hooter you get to blow off some steam without worrying about the consequences if you fall. Not so with some kook sitting just inside you the whole way.

I dont know if those waves are "perfectly" suited to SUP......HELL of ALOT of wind....wind + large SUP board = hard work.

I agree with the wind factor but geez they looked the goods for sup'ing and Longboarding,I was dribbling over them.

Nice work with the filming graffitisup. Hats off.

Yeah conditions may not have been perfect...I always prefer glassy conditions when on the sup....but the reality is from what I have seen there are a few people in this country that would have shredded that place. Yes it's a shifty peak and you need to know where to sit for the ones with more north or west in them but I have seen some unbelievable sup stuff in conditions far worse.

As for the drop in......ummmm I do not care if the heat is over or not. It's a drop in. Unless he called him in for a party wave then it's just bad manners and there is far too much of that going on these days.

Hmm, I didn't think it was that windy. By "perfect" I meant fat and small for Sunset, which breaks all over the place anyway, so a SUP would probably be able to pick up way more waves than a shortboard or mal.
