Hi Everybody,

I'm interested in the Sunova Skate, particularly the 8.0 or 8.3.

I haven't had the good fortune to meet someone who has one or ridden one.

I currently have a Sunova Flow 8.4 (love it to death).

My thoughts is to have the Skate for smaller off/cross shore days.

How do they go?

Anyone got one they might want sell?

Cheers,

David

Hi Green Tea

I surfed an 8'10" Skate for a few years. It was fast and stable. A good board for smaller waves and picked them up easily. I felt a bit out of control on bigger waves ( over shoulder high). Although I have not surfed on the Shroom it might be a better groveller for smaller waves. Creek can likely give you a more informed answer as he has surfed both boards and knows them well.

I had one.... a 8'2" XL. Had a fish tail, not a moon tail.
Super fun on slopey waves up to shoulder high. Probably was undersized for me (was 1.1 x BW in litres) .
If I bought again, i'd definitely go larger (1.3-1.4 x BW).

Fast, lively, skatey. A quiver board... not a quiver of 1 board though. A Jimmy Lewis Superfrank is very similar, but has more wave range IMO.

Here's a video from 5 years ago on my 9'2 Skate
I was 106 kg at the time.

Where are you located? I may be able to help find one in your size.

The Skate is a very fun board in the right conditions.
Stable, good paddler, fast on waves and generally an easy board to stand around on.

Hi Supthecreek,

Thank you for posting the video. I have watched it many times before, great clip.

I live in Victoria, Australia. We get lots of cross shore days at this time of year.

I've been SUPing for 15 years, all surf. I've been thinking the Skate for the smaller messier conditions. I've found boards around the 100L to 110L suit me best.

Cheers

I agree with you Mike3217.

I used to ride a fish occasionally when I could still prone surf. I'm looking for some nostalgia.

Cheers
