Good on you guys for discussing sun protection in a factual mature way. After all it is our future life & lifestyle that the sun will affect. Better to be outdoors doing the things we love than spending time in hospital or doctors surgery.
Whatever you do for sun protection is better than no protection at all.
As a keen mad fisherman, spearfishing & surfer in my younger days before sun protection was even mentioned. I had my fair share of sunburn & blisters & also snow blindness from paddling around on a bright white polystyrene board all day at the age of 10 on. Lol!

Burning the crap outa my eyes wasn't fun.

Was like a welding flash after getting home outa the sun after about 6 hours. Just imagine having sand poured in your eyes before going to bed. I couldn't sleep for at least 2 nights in pain.
So that's why I wear sunglasses when I surf.
First started wearing Oakley surf glasses until they wore out. But now wear SeaSpecs as they are so cheap & UV protection.
But you can lose them in pumping surf. So I tie a loop of cord around the strap that fits snug over my head to my neck. Then you put the glasses on as normal. A cord like one out of a pair of speedos is great. Works perfect for me.
Another tip is to clean your lenses with lense cleaner before you go out for a surf to reduce the smudges & fogging.
What I do religiously is after cleaning with lense cleaner I then wipe over the lenses with an anti fog solution which is Zoggs Fogbuster Anti Fog & Lens Cleaner that I got from AMart. Just a small drop & wipe over & you are good to go.
It's not 100% clear vision on some days. Just avoid touching the lense. Dunk your face in the water to clear any fog & water droplets.
I have been wearing surf glasses for over 15 years & am used to it. Feel bare without them lol.
