HAs anybody used these? are they safe?
couldn't be far of the cost of buying all of the bits and pieces and making steel one yourself?

... need some non-bag storage

+1 for boardRAX. Reasonably priced too from memory. Rock solid with the rack full

These look great . How much does say a 28 inch wide board hang over the side ?
(How long are the rods ?)

Garage is looking a bit crazy and these may be a good option

Gday Gboots,
Rods are 21" but obviously board is gonna rest nearer the tail & nose at narrower points of the board. Board in pic is Starboard Pro 8'7 @29.5" wide. A 28" board will overhang by approx 4.5" at both resting points on the rods. And with the angle they are set into the frame there's no way a board will slip out, even with a firm bump.

they look good.
I might try and sort something in metal. Wood outside (no garage) doesn;t last long up here.
we have a well stocked (and cheap) tip shop here in D town I might see what I can rustle up.

Gday backbeach,
From top to bottom are:
1. Starboard Pro 8'7 x 29.5" @135L. Highest litre board in my quiver but doesn't feel like it. Comfortable & surfs like a much smaller board. Starboard have absolutely nailed this new 'user friendly' performance board design.

2. Starboard Longboard 10' x 29" @123L. Best board ever made. End of story ! 2ft to 6ft this board just works and at a 3.3" thickness (or should I say thinness) makes this board perform with a feeling that just puts a smile on your dial after every surf.

3. Starboard Pocket Rocket 8'5 x 30 @131L. My back up board and the last of the best ever carbon construction. Or so I thought (2021 Pro Models have gone back to this Construction. there is a god !!! ) Good all round fun board in all conditions.

4. Another 10' x 29" Longboard. Damaged/Retired - R.I.P.

Top 2 vacant racks are reserved for future suitors. You reckon I should put an 8'7 Wedge on one ??

Note: Sorry finsup, didn't mean to hijack ur thread in regards to 'storage racks'

Great quiver and write up Dakine-can see you're covered a lot of bases there and stoked to boot. The supboarder crew really talk up the starboard pro also. Got me thinking about where I'll go next once I progress from the wedge-to which I think you well and truly have as your boards are more advanced, which is where I'm aiming for.

Just to keep in line with finsup thread I've gerry rigged 70x35 pine with broomstick thick dowell and plenty of fittings to knock up boardracks in the shed. Not pretty but functional.

I made my own, a few off cuts, scews, brackets and gorilla glue brown, and imagination and the job was done and I'm what some might call a wood butcher. Solid as a rock, the main cost was time, and about ?10 in fixings

Haa! Not saying much more. Other than it is wobbly length ways & can be made sturdier with diagnol braces which I'll get around to doing one day.
It does me for now.

I will have to grab some photos of my version, But I made my own rack out of PVC piping I used very similar parts to this photo but put pool noodle over the racks. I braced it all behind a bit of timber plus I put some broom handles inside the tube to make sure nothing failed and screwed to my wall so its all in place and not moving. I hold 2 boards on the bottom rack as its a 90 degree and then 3 boards on the arms. I also made a small rack for my wetsuits and paddles. It cost me around $100 in materials and a few hours trial and error.

I just found a photo in my phone of how the finished product looks. Not appealing to the eyes but it works really well. The daughter in law told me which colours i had to use haha...

Good stuff Nugdam. As long as it works. If I can find those 45 deg sockets then I'll be able to brace mine easily. But not sure if waterpipe has them.

Yes I still ride 3 of his customs. 9'6" x 29 semi gun
10'6" x 30 noserider
11'11" x 29.5 gun

All in his lightweight innegra construction. They seem very much at home on all the points up here. The 11'11" in particular on the big cyclone swells is simply awesome! I was out at Point Cartwright earlier in the year on a day tha5 was double overhead. I sat wide and got the bombs that just cleaned up all the shortboarders. After about 45 minutes in the water 3 guys from the Mooloolaba surf club paddled out on skis. They came over and asked me what it was I was riding. Said they'd been watching me from the shore getting all the bombs on my massive red board and just had to know wha5 it was.

Ive asked him to make me another one this year. Will be another gun shape at 10' x 29

My only options for storing a 9'5" Speeed living in an apartment complex without a secure garage of our own (just a car space), and not allowed to attach any racks etc. to walls or ceiling. Hanging in straps attached to the back of a (Body Corporate approved) over-bonnet storage box (on wheels so I can push it back against the wall) with a long cable & lock securing SUP (through LiftSup handle!) & bike to box, then to overhead anchor point. Not pretty, but relatively secure from snatch & grab. Bolt cutters would be an issue but tried to make it as difficult as possible.
