Hello, I have a Starboard Allstar that has been great to me. No issues but of my own doing.
I keep it outside in the hot sun. Just don't have room for it inside.
The blue paint on the bottom is coming off on my hands. I look like a smurf after handling the board.

What can I do to fix this? Sand it down and apply some sort of sealant?

Please be specific. I've worked with fiberglass and carbon before but not this style of paint and surface finish.
thanks

Just build a shack for it! Just a simple roof will suffice, like the ones you see to protect firewood. You want to avoid direct sunlight.

You are VERY lucky that it is only the paint that is destroyed by the UV rays. Most board will suffer serious damage (delamination) if left in the sun. But you have probably shortened its life significantly.

Buy an inflatable so that you can store it away from the sun...

Seriously, if the board has been exposed to UVs to the point of destroying the paint, the damage probably isn't limited to just the paint...

You can try to remove all the paint, (sanding? solvent F? Turps? ... anything but not acetone), then re-paint, plus UV-proof varnishes... But is it worth it?

Try to use at least a reflective survival blanket/bag, with something to keep some airflow between it and the board.

Same thing happens with car left out for long periods .red is worse ...i would apply some car wax ,it has built in UV protection ,
throw a old sheet over it ..the sun is hard on boards ..especially the paint ..not to mention the carbon in the board .

Maybe my post wasn't clearly worded. I realize indoor or shaded storage would be better.
But since the coating is already coming off, what can I do to fix the paint on this Starboard AllStar? Sand & redo the clear coat?

Any recommendations on what spray paint to use? What does Starboard use after the color paint is applied to make the shiny clear coat?

thanks

I don't think they clearcoat in a separate step except on the special visible carbon etc boards. Typically its just a one shot of acrylic or 2K.
If the external is powdery, just wash n scuff with a scotchbrite and clear it with anything.
