A cool clip of rider on a downwinder with some great footwork using the Starboard Ace. Board speed is not too shabby either.

Thats pretty cool, it changes my perspective on the boof nose boards.

Most of the people I have seen on them are planted like a tree and let the nose do all the work. I doubt you could get away with that in those conditions though.

Yeah, he looked pretty busy. Wish I could dance like that!

Just shows you that a skilled rider can ride anything.
Notice his back toes on those forehand turns - not much room to crank it any more.

Im far from any expert but to me.. (we all try to be from the comfort of the computer chair)
The 2nd half of the vid he was on fire linking plenty.
1st half he was cutting way to sharp on the runners and falling off them or slowing himself down instantly and not linking any. or maybe he was just having fun.
once he straightened up more on the runners he looked quick and making good ground.

time I buy an Ace I think. Moreton bay choppy conditions is screaming for it.

I couldnt even move like that on a dance floor never mind on a board

Maybe in the first half he was trying to cut across the bumps to line up with his destination and then in the second half, the waves lined up better with the end point.

Great clip. The only person I've seen who is anywhere near as nimble and skilful on an Ace is Matt Nottage. Beau is obviously very fast but he is more economical with his movements.

To get the full speed out of an Ace you need to move your feet.

If Redbulls make you move like that, I will have to get myself a few cases !!. I think anyone who is familiar with the Starboard Ace and its incredible speed and ability to easily link bump after bump knows of its full potential. Put expert riders like this guy, Beau, Connor etc.. and you have a secret weapon. The one time you really see spray coming off "nose boof" is when he falls forward. Conditions dont seem small, so i guess when you hear persons complaining about "nose boofing" on the Ace, it could be lack of foot movement or poor technique or timing of foot movement. What was wicked to see in the clip, was his ability to crank both port and starboard rails by having both feet on one side.

I don't think this should put you off. Sure, this guy is doing an outstanding job but many of us mortals have a great time down winding an Ace with far less ability and minimal movement.

good point PT I never thought about that when watching it and writing about it until you pointed it out.

looks like he is turning his ace by leaning on the rail, (like normal SUP)
only way I can ever turn my ace is by putting weight on opposite rail to where I want to go????

Opposite rail when forward and same rail when on the tail is normally the go.

I'm knackered just watching him...
