I have always admired peoples skills, no matter what it might be. A person riding a short board , I sure carn't even stand on one, A young kid singing with a pretty amazing voice. The skills some people have riding all forms of things. Bmx, Motor cross, Skis, snowboards, the list is long. But to concentrate on the area which I enjoy which is paddle surfing. I look at a young kid ripping on a short board. Some one with great style nose riding a long board. Even a body boarder smashing of the lip.
The people that seem to have this unfavourable attitude towards anyone that's out there on a sup, even those that do know what there doing, is mostly I find those that are very good surfers. They have great skills.
I suppose this can only target those that have this attitude, but could any of them possibly think that actually that person there has some great skills being able to stand up on that board and manage to get it out in the surf.
Just trying to find a fresh topic.

Strange, that is not my experience.
Where I encountered them, it was always mediocre surfers (but accomplished assholes also on land)

i am with colas---often the dbags, after a hissy, go for a wave and i laugh.

a response ive used: "easy guy, your problems getting waves have nothing to do with me!" (then i snag a nice one!)

i tend to respect those better than me--let em drop me, take my wave, whatever---i like watching them

but if a guy has attitude and he sux--fock dat!

i have warned my daughters they may get a call from the ER after i have a runin with an MMA guy!

generally tho, the bullies never had to take a punch, and wont stay on a guy who talks back--they prefer easier targets

whatever---as my abilities have gotten pretty solid, i find it's usually pretty peaceful where i go

Maybe change the topic of this thread to "Best come back to a smart ass comment"

Have never understood aiming criticism at the type of board the person is riding - have come across wanker swimmers, body boarders, short boarders, Long Boarders, SUP'ers, Kayakers, Clubbies over the years who have all acted like idiots in the line up wether its hogging waves, dropping in or just being a douche with bad attitude.

I find its the attitude of the person not the board.

I love the fact that there are so many options you can ride in the surf, not limited by any means so levelling criticism at the type of board makes no sense.
