I have one long sup that is in a bag, and often in the rain and a bit of sun and it has been fine. See if you can rig it up to minimize water getting in, and shade it as much as you can.

Or buy an inflatable sup and it will be easier to store.

My mate, stored his board on a rack on the side of his house with a small weighted tarp over it to protect from the sunlight and rain it was fine. Go for it.

As others said, protect it from the sun and overheating (it should not go above 50C).

Do not keep in a closed bag, to avoid mildew and osmosis (paint bubbling), unless the bags are protected from the rain. It is best to not rinse the board, salt water prevents mildew.

Beware that cats cannot get onto the pad... they love using it as a scratchpad.

I did not have room in my previous house to store boards, so I kept Sailboards, then SUPs in bags, either vertically against an house wall that didn't get exposed to the sun, or under a car park roof for years, with no issues.

If you use a board bag, it is mandatory to have plastic zippers with big teeth. Metal ones will get stuck fast.

PS: be careful when opening it... I had some surprises with "guests", but I was in France... I don't want to imagine what kind of Australian wildlife can make a board bag its home :-)

Yep made in 2007.

Definitely consider an inflatable for your first board if you have storage challenges as it will store better rolled up in a bag (most inflatables come with a bag so you don't have that extra expense). You don't want to leave any board sitting in direct sunlight on 35 degree + days.

Buy or make some racks and install on south facing wall of house, alternatively make a lean to off a fence.

I have a board outside under tarp....kind of hidden behind a shed....heat is the the thing to avoid.

Dont stire in a bag.
