Finally got some long awaited waves on my 8'3 x 27 Naish LE

This board has been an exercise in perseverance to say the least.
After several failed attempts of getting waves on this board it all came together last week and my wife even got a couple of waves on her video phone.
I believe not being in a heavy wetsuit may have helped me overcome the plonk off's that I previously experienced paddling this board.
A recent conversation with JB from Naish on how to take off on these tiny boards also helped.
At 75 kg a 97 litre board was meant to be fine, still not sure on these numbers yet however when on a wave these boards are amazing.

Well done Jack, but I recon of those numbers, the 27 is the struggle.
I know I couldn't do it, but then I'm 90 kegs and need about 30.5 and 130L for that length of board.

You'll get there ...I have 3 week old 7-10 x 27.5 @ 94 litres and am almost the same weight as you... I dropped down from a 102l 8.2 x 29.5 and yep I noticed the width... Getting more comfortable with each session.. Will become my everyday board within a month hopefully....

Hi Jack, glad to see you shortening ....on the same wave you look easiest with this board than the wider boards at +30'' you had in the past. as Loz79 you will get more confident after each next session in particular on those glass days

I like those conditions.

I'm enjoying the transition from 10' x 32 plank to 8'5" SB. It's 29 wide so not too wobbly.

Yeah, those specs should be fine. I'm 65kg's on a 78 litre board.

Try stretching glutes, hammies, calves before a surf. Maybe some sit-ups to activate your core just prior to paddling out. If I don't I feel like a kook no matter what size board, but as i drop down in size it becomes really important.

You're bloody half-ripping already though!!!
