yes those boards are very wide, way to wide for anyone whom has surfed. They are like standing on a cargoship. Guess starboard do focus on the unskilled and over weight. Personally I would be embarrassed to own one, and im an old bastard. Starboard are focusing on clogging up the waterways with kooks and people that really should not be in the water over their heads, especially with a big stick in their hands
Starboard really need to lift their game. And you do to DJ, next you will be having a go at blacks, jews, ****s, wogs and chicks
Could not disagree more. Yes starboards are wide (some of them) and they have heaps of volume and are way too easy to surf and paddle - Oh hang on, thats a good thing isn't it ? Starboard sups are aimed at a particular market I believe, and that is the people who want fun and easy boards to paddle and surf in all conditions and don't want to go through the pain of spending the first 3 months constantly falling off and getting completely frustrated. I have owned and ridden many starboards as have many of my mates and we are all surfers first and foremost and have never had any complaints about the generous dimensions of the boards. Some people wanna ride small and skinny sups and thats great for them but many more of us just wanna ride comfortable sups that in my opinion surf just as well as anything else out there in the right hands.
Oh yeah - if the unskilled and old and overweight are out on starboards then they will become skilled and fit a lot quicker than the dreamers and tossers who are out in lineups on under-volumed sups and spending more than half the session falling off, wasting waves and causing havoc to everyone around them.
