Hi All, just wondering if anyone has some info on where to surf on the east side of Bali. I am in Legian and the moment and it blown out over here and looks like the same for the next week. I have not surfed on the east side so did not know if you need a boat out the the reefs around Sanur or Nusa Dua. I've heard Hyatt Reef is supposed to be ok as well as Serangan. Any tips would help as getting bored sitting around the pool!!

Hi Boogs,

Tanjung Sari is worth a look. No need for a boat, just paddle out from Sindhu Beach (Jalan Sindhu in Sanur). Left and right either side of channel.

Sanur pre dawn - I paddled out early to reef before both boats and wind started up.

Go to Titties Warung at Semawang Beach , its about 1km north of Rip Curl on the beach
Ask for Putu , he runs a boat and surf all breaks along Sanur

Hi all, Thanks for your replies. I ended up going to Geger Beach at Nusa Dua. Nice little right hander when it sectioned up. Just paddled out around the left of the reef and a few different spots to sit. Only a handful of people out. There are not many boats if you did want to save yourself the ten minute paddle.

Cheers

Ha surfed geger last wed , pretty intense, glad you scored, bit of info for those that wish to hire, geger has a sup/ longboard hire on the beach , sup, looks like a fair mix of boards that should suit most , not sure of price as the man was goone when we rocked up on the top of the tide.
We went down to Mushroom rock and hired a board for 15 big ones for 2 hours, made our way to Geger to surf . Probably a 20 minute walk paddle. There are 2 hire sup/longboard rental at mushroom rock , fair array of choices.

Hi Boogs

There are a few reefs on Sanur that are worth checking. I've surfed a few wuith no one out our only half a dozen people. You can paddle out to the reef (it will take a while but it's good exercise) or take a boat. Joni from Rip Curl School of surfing (located at Sanur Beach Hotel) is a great guy and will help you out. He has a wide range of Starboards

Surfed Geger again today a little bigger but crowds were also up. Watch out for the dodgy boat driver who did not come to pick us up. Paddle back in not enjoyed after paddling against the current for two hours!
