I have lost my driving licence here in the great police state of Victoria, I have a coupl of months of work locally but I wont be able to go anywhere for a surf unless someone drives me. I am wanting to get some info on good places to stay or surf camp type scenario wher I can just go walk or get a lift to a surf beach and surf/SUP a few hours a day for a couple of weeks. Im sure there are plenty of places along NSW and Queensland coasts but I wouldnt mind somewher a bit more quiet. Plenty of good places in Indo etc but sadly we cannot go there. I am looking at something similar to a surf resort as I would need to hire boards and probably need a guru to show me around surf spots. I guess even staying at a hotel/tourist park within close proximity to surf beach would be good. I look forward to your replies, cheers.

Yes I have read there are a lot of good surf beaches up that way. Same as South of Sydney.

Caravan park at Pambula Beach. You can fly in to Merimbula from Melbourne, short taxi ride to Pambula.
Surf out the front, river around the corner.
Nice and quiet in winter and water at coldest is probably warmer than Vicco at warmest.
Not sure what you would do about a board though.

Yes that is a good spot there and Tathra,I was up there 2 yrs ago before the bush fires. Come to think of it Tathra had a great MTB track across the road from the beach. I was thinking more about Rainbow beach in Queensland but I'm googling the net and getting ideas from here. Cheers everyone.

Sorry, thought you were thinking Vicco. Crescent head, dodge the school holidays, but I guess it would still be crowded. Plenty of waves around Ulladulla, but a car would be handy. Anywhere you are going to be able to hire a sup, will be crowded. A lot of SUP hire places will be happy to drop them off. Noosa can be pretty handy if accom, is in right spot, but surf is either great and crowded or ordinary. Good luck.

Don't come to Darwin.
The weather's crap, there's no waves and there's people everywhere.
And you're forced to wear boardies pretty much all year. It's awful.
I think I might move back to Vicco.

Looks great mate and you improve paddle technique quickly to get away from the crocs. Noosa does sound very appealing and has got nice rolling breaks when they are working. Ive read Crescent Head is excellent for Supping and longboarding. It seems like most places I will need a vehicle to get around to the beaches. I think most places on the East Coast are pretty much ****ed now thanks to Work from Homers, Grey Nomads and Escapees from Victoria.

Actually your on the right path Noosa is the perfect spot, I normally stay in a unit at 1st Point and rent a SUP from the beach easy.

The colder winter gets and the lock down effects bite Noosa sounds perfect. Can you recommend any good places to stay at a reasonable price. The caravan park cabins look OK from the pics I've seen. I would nice to have the beach across the road

Noosa Holiday Rentals have a variety of units around 1st Point see what's available, some can be $170 per night off peak others more than that.

We recently stayed at little cove, ideal location, 100 metres to beach, couple of hundred to national park. Nothing around there is terribly cheap though $200+ a night. Not likely to get any cheaper all of those coastal places are even more popular since the pandemic. Booking.com seems to have the cheaper prices and most agents use them as well as other platforms. Cheers fellas, for sure prices have gone up and vacancies have shrunk since the pandemic but it will be worth going just to get out of Victoria and have a break.
