Our first Sydney Paddle Surfing Club event of the 2012/2013 season is coming up this Sunday, 12th August. This will be at Palm Beach, starting at 7:30am and we'll probably be right in the southern corner to get a bit of protection from the forecasted huge swell and strong wind.

Depending on the wind, we may turn the race into a 6km downwinder on Pittwater so be prepared with a legrope (essential), PFD (optional) and camelback (optional).

Membership fees are due for the new season but single comp membership is also available.

Hope to see you on Sunday at Palmy.

Note: 12'6" limit still applies for the racing, even if we run a downwinder.

Is the comp definately running because i was wondering wether you guys would still be able to run it??

Looks like will be trying to run it Kai ... The down wind race should happen for sure as that's in pittwater so that will be best race yet looking at the current forcast !!
The surfing well we should be ok in the corner at palmy ?? Depends how big and windy it gets?? Casso is going to check it out Saturday as is doing a down winder up that way so will have a good idea of the surf con-testability for Sunday .. I will chat to him so give us a call late Saturday arvo.. Dan

Just being a realistic John being the contest director we have to consider everyone not just one or two people ... But yeah should be fine, but Casso will no more come Saturday ...

I like the look of the forecast for Sunday :) frothingggg

Maybe we can move the comp to the next point south, no potential crowd problem and no closeouts. Maybe some slabs on low tide. Quick walk or up wind paddle from Kiddies! Rock off can be a bit suss but judges could just hang on the rocks.

Would be good - but not sure if the OH&S team will be too impressed.

What about holding it at a protected little break with brown water :)

... and if are planning on doing the race, make sure you get there by 8am because we may do that first to make the most of the stronger wind, let the swell ease a bit and let the tide fill in.

Good call Casso could be right on the money though as I have had interest of people keen on the race but not to keen on surfing in a 50 knot wind !! Like Steve piper and jradedmondo from central coast is gunna catch ferry over for race ...

Havnt surfed collaroy in about a year ??
Yeah but could be an options for brown water?? Depends how big it gets and how windy ??
Do windsurfers still exsist on the northern beaches?? Cool havnt seen many of late

Maybe we can move the comp to one of the epic points up the north coast, better forecast up there : ))
