i got the two side ones, see picture. What's the best roof rack combo to attach so that I spend minimal time putting the board on the roof?

How many board are you gonna carry on average day? If more than two then use straps if less than two then there's a few good ones out there like thule and or lockrack is what use because it's easy loading in out of the car roof.

Get roof racks with bars that protrude over the sides like this. (Doesn't matter what brand)
Then, grab yourself a set of tie downs something like this https://www.surffcs.com.au/shop/surf-auto/fcs-cam-lock-tie-down-straps. Surf ones are nice since they'll have some kind of neoprene around the buckles to protect your board.

This way you can loop the ends of the tie downs over the roof rack bar ends without having to thread the straps over and under the bars each time you're loading. Takes 2min instead of 4min.

Or, you could buy some fancy sup carrier for $500 and do it even quicker with some extra security. I'm a tightarse so took the $20 option.

Actually the lockrack (fancy sup carrier) is currently on sale $150 for the green with 50cm base, the regular black is $250
Just brilliant.

I have the slim Thule bars that don't protrude, but I agree the ones that protrude are more flexible, and I needed an extra rubber spacer to make the lockrack work with slim bars. The only downside with lockrack is that they whistle a bit, but otherwise it's very quick on and off.

I Don't have that whistle problem. Is your roof rail channels expose if so, duck tape over it as a cheap fix or install the original rubber strip that came with the roof rack.

That's a pretty sweet deal. Nice not to have to worry about your board getting nicked when stopping somewhere.

Ahh yes, some of the channels are exposed. Good to know. Thanks.

The only other thing with lockracks worth mentioning for new owners; I partially mashed the first key because I pushed the rack arm in too tight and I couldn't get the key in right . When that happens instead of trying to force it you just push the arm in to reduce pressure on the lock while you put the key in and turn it.

I just can't see how they stop your 14 ft boards at least from flying out at speed, I see there was a set I think that carried two 14ft boards on top of each other, I assume can only be used with tule bars

I have the whispbar racks, no whistle at any speed. To install lockrack just slide in from end of rack, easy. I think the bearing weight is 100kg for this rack, these are for your type of rails

Think they still sell them at Surf FX in Southport.

Rhino Racks are great. Starting to see more and more people with them. But price you want to pay will depend on what you can get.
