Ran into an old footy mate who ghas two houses in Raglan. Of course old footy mates would never charge for a week in house. Not keen on crowds but the house is free.

Take both your sup and surfboard and initially surf or sup in less crowded spot.
Biggest problem is getting into NZ at the moment but should free up and let a few Aussies in.
Also suggest road trip Taranaki, surf highway 45 in campervan.
