This new traction grip product from RSPro looks good. Anyone know if the local distributor is planning to bring it in? I can't find it on the .au website.

Very nice does it come in one large sheet or separate bits

I think it's separate hexagons but not at all sure.

I'm going to order some so I'll let know.

We should have Hexa Traction available in Australia within the next week or two.
I trialled some samples on the weekend and I'm stoked with it!
I prone paddled a fair bit to test abrasiveness on skin and it's fine.....wax gives a worse rash.
This stuff is going to be awesome for any board.....SUP, shortboard, longboard, etc.
No more waterlogged heavy EVA foam or wax getting all over everything :-)

Compared with a bar of wax perhaps. But I doubt you would find full deck cover EVA foam for much cheaper than that. At least, not the sort that resists soaking up water.

None so far after 2 long surfs and 1 quick after work sesh
Dirt seems to wash off easily.

Is it clear??... I liked the feel of my waxed board on a wave but not paddling around n ended up putting a deck pad on... This stuff looks interesting

I like a bit of give in the pad. Yep old feck. Looks hard

I think it would look pretty cool on the boards with wood grain exposed in the front third. I've got one of those and nearly went arse over tit on it several times last weekend. Can't bring myself to cover the wood with wax.

Easily. You just need to know where to look. Looks great though...

I've heard that it's not like monster paint or star touch and has a softer rubbery feel.. I'll find out soon because I've ordered some..

There is a great video of these being applied to a Naish SUP on vimeo guys..looks good. Not replacing the deck pad just added to the nose area

that is a very bad habbit

Have used it for a few surfs now, its not a soft rubbery feel, it's very thin plastic however the roughness is not enough to take off skin etc. it's excellent for adding extra grip on the nose area of a board but I would still stick to normal style pad for the standing area for comfort but also a more for a more aggressive grip when doing hard turns or manouvour. It will be interesting to see how long the grip keeps it grip feel before its needs replacing due to it thin nature etc. I'm going to try try it on a new longboard I have coming in the next week instead of wax, I think from initial tests it maybe a case of whether it will have enough grip rather than being too rough.

If you want something soft and spongy under your feet then an EVA foam deck pad is for you.
Hexatraction is thin and firm under foot.....similar to wax.
I've used wax on all my surf SUPs for the last few years but will definately be putting Hexatraction on them all when it arrives.
I've had it on my 10' x 26" for a while now and surfed it heaps.
Never slipped once and it's been thrown through more than a few critical turns that have tested it's limits ;-)

I recently purchased two boxes to apply to my 8'2", I ripped off the existing deck grip and began the transformation. I was a little sceptical as these Pieces of grip are fairly thin and didn't seem at all that grippy with a dry hand. application is easy even for a rough she'll be right kinda bloke like me (although I did manage to stray a little) I wasn't surfing for a few days so it was ample time for the drying process, as application is with wet board and hex pieces. The day of reckoning came and I tentively hit the water in somewhat tiny conditions, to my relief it felt grippy and great, I could now feel the board as I remember back with the wax days except without the mess. I don't know if it is my imagination but even paddling through waves seemed easier, pretty sure I was just stoked I'd made a good decision. time will tell how long it lasts but for now I'm happy ??

I purchased the other day and applied to to the nose of my board but unfortunately I haven't had it in the water yet.

First impressions are it's not that soft (imagine rail tape with a rough surface), so will be fine for the nose but not sure about replacing the whole deck pad.

I'll give an update as soon as I get it in the water.

I'm with Mark - not sure about replacing whole deck pad. I applied to north of deckpad and was immediately pleased with my added ability to run to the nose to overcome strong offshores when trying to drop down the face. All I can really report so far is that it's much better than nothing!
