Well, this is it. The 3rd and final race in the series.

The last race saw a change of venue and challenging conditions for a shortened race.

For those competitors who have competed in the first 2 races and are doing the 3rd and final race, they are in the running for the major prize which is a shiny, new 2011 Starboard 9'8". There are also stacks of prizes from some of our generous featured on the event poster above.

We have now made Half Moon Bay, Black Rock our permanent race venue, due to it's unrivalled views, parking, beach access and support from the HMB SLSC.
We have also struck a deal with Jamie from the Cerebus Beach House. For only $5, you can score a fresh, hot coffee and a bacon and egg roll. So come down and have breakfast whilst you register. The Cerebus Beach House will be open from 8am.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Half Moon Bay, here's the location.





The long range forecast looks quite kind, with only light variable winds forecast.
The race duration will very definitely be 60 mins and we're expecting to see more improved performances' from a few people who've been paddling consistently all summer.

Beach Rd is closed again this Sunday.

"Xosize triathlon series, race 5 Sunday 27 March, 6.00am - 10.15am Beach Road closed northbound from Balcombe Road, Black Road to Dendy Street, Brighton. Northbound traffic detoured along Bluff Road, South Road, New Street and Dendy Street. Southbound traffic can use Beach Road, speed limit reduced to 20 km/h. Traffic from intersecting roads along the route can use Beach Rd southbound, or use the detour route to travel northbound."

Damn triathletes. How do you guys cope living in bayside suburbs? I'd go insane.

Due to the XoSize triathlon and the subsequent road closure this Sunday, March 27th, we unfortunately are postponing this Sunday's race and re-scheduling it for the following Sunday April 3rd.

I sincerely hope this isn't an inconvenience to those of you who had set the day aside to paddle both in the race or socially.

The following Sunday will see us return to the planned race and weather permitting, we'll also continue the day with a sup demo, the emphasis being a family day.

Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend. Look at it this way, it gives everyone another week to train the house down before the race!

Finally the weather Gods have been kind enough to grant us a suitable forecast to run the Final race of the RPS/Starboard series.


So head to Half Moon Bay, Black Rock this Sunday 17th April for a morning of thrills, hopefully no spills and some fun paddling action.


Registration is from 8.30am, don't forget that entry is FREE for Sup Vic members and you are able to sign up on the day.

The registration tent will be directly opposite the Beach House Cafe, so why not take advantage of a $5 coffee and bacon and egg roll! Just tell Jamie that you're a part of RPS race when you order.

Just out of interest to all those participating in the RPS event this weekend note that there will also be another event at Half Moon Bay,the 140 years celebration of the HMVS Cerberus from 10am on Sunday. This may mean a **** load of tourists so parking may be a problem local paper says there will boat tours of the wreck and a commemorative rifle shoot,hopefully not at the Sup competitors

yeah, they better not take any pot shots at the competitors.

The boat trips aren't due to commence until 11am, by which time [ if we start on time], the race will have already run, won and done.

To those of you attending the race/demo day this Sunday, 17th April, there will also be a celebration marking the arrival of the HMVS Cerberus, which dates back 140 years.

Bayside Council and "The Friends of the Cerberus" will be hosting the event and they are only too happy to have us paddlers form part of the background to the once mighty Cerberus as we race around the buoys.

Apparently they will fire a cannon at 10.30 am, which, if we start the race on time at 9.30am will mark the finish of our race.

I encourage you to arrive before the 8.30am registration start time to ensure a carpark. Alternatively, you can also drop your board off at the beach area and park above Half Moon Bay in the Beach Rd carpark.

The weather forecast looks perfect, with only very light, variable winds.

This looks like being a cracker of an event, with the prizes and trophies and onlookers and the cannon firing and all the rest. You'd have to be mad to miss it.
