Is their a conspiracy in SQ to kill the sport , fair dinkum.
Yeah it's a shame they couldn't organise a more point to point type course for the distance race. We have endless down wind direction options in southern moreton bay and northern moreton bay with many starting and finishing locations and these maps along with supporting information were given to SQ though they have decided to go with the "round green island" option instead.
The paddle from the marina to and around green island is pretty cool the waters around the island on a clear day are nothing short of amazing.
But I now pray for very light winds. If it's glassy at least everyone will be able to do it and enjoy it.
if it's 10 or so knots in any direction it will mean a few little bumps one way or the other which will make for a good challenging rece as paddlers will be picking there own lines north or south of the race line.
If it's 15kn or more in any direction forget it she will be a real grind of a paddle and not many will finish, none will enjoy it.
If it's howling on the day S'E. You will see a few come screaming through the middle of the course on their way from Cleveland to the port on one of our best down wind runs in the State
