I have attached some pics on the tab positions for fins on my 8'7" placid. I have surfed it as a quad before with the front fins in the most forward position and it surfed great. I was just playing around wondering how it would go as a quad with the front fins closer to the rail and rear fins. Cheers.

Front fins forward more will loosen the board up and allow you to surf with your backfoot not so far back when turning.
Front fins out wider and back will stiffen up the board and give it more drive.
Will need to get your back foot back a little further back when initiating you turns but should be quicker down the line.
Only real way to tell is to take a fin key out and swap fin positions whilst in the water.

It might be the photo angle misleading my old eyes; but do you have two centre fins as rears? the foil looks symmetrical on the rears

Yes they are ,a lot of quads currently are running 50/50 or 80/20 for rears ,supposedly smoother in transition,unless the rears are more out on rail,then flat inside foil, faster reacting ,but not as smooth or controlled,kind of personal choice,as I understand it.

Thanks for that; I might experiment myself! It could be a good way to regain some control over my JP Surf pros in fast waves. zero toe and minuscule cant equal too much speed at times

Ya...swap Fins or adjust on the go..easy as..
Setup,
69SLAM boardies 4waystretch side pocket loop, hair tie - leash cord - hair tie - Hanalei fin key.
Remove from pocket loop, hair tie over hand holding key, swap for other side.
Can adjust single fin Hex screw.
Haven't - lost it or impaled myself.
Have - help'd lots of folk out back to enjoying the sesh
re broken leash cord, to remove a broken fin and/or remaining fin...
And a few hair ties to surf ladies after ugly wipeouts...
