Cyclone Bianca was bearing down on Perth this weekend and we got absolutely nothing! I know its not far to Margies or Indo but god I like to able to surf a couple times a week near home. Maybe I should move or sell the kids and travel more ?

Maybe - you only live once. Unfortunately, whining on a forum about poor life choices, won't give you much sympathy.

yeah bit disapointing about the lack of swell and rain. But not the lack of damage a cyclone would have brought,

There was bugger all swell first thing but the swell did kick abit around 8.30am when i went down for a look, the point had a few good sets comming thru once the wind got into it latter on in the afternoon. short period swell of only 10 secs

Couple of local boys on SUPs doing alright at the end of the road, one on a shinny new Kwad..looks good on the waves hilly.

Glad you guys got something out of it. I had family duties on Sunday. I still have fond memories of the surf from Cyclone Alby in 79 as a kid and thought the only hope of decent waves in Perth is an errant cyclone but this does not seem to be the case! Glad those Kwads look good on the waves I'm getting one soon and heading to Indo in March so not looking for sympathy just thought it was funny that we got put on a cyclone watch and still don't get any waves?

Where were you?

On sunday Cables was huge, all the cott breaks were as big and nasty as i have ever seen them.
Swanbourne was as big as i have seen it and that reef in N cott was firing.

Bad luck Fergus, between 10am and 2pm Perth had the best waves in months.

I had some fun waves down at seconds. It was draining nively off the bank and had some fun little shoulders. Then actually pulled my shortboard out for the first time in over a year and got some decent waves out at Metts in the arvo. Definitely think SUPing has helped my shortboarding, noticed a massive difference in back foot pressure.

I was down south near Margs all last week and it was MASSIVE on Thursday (4m+ swell), at least 10 guys doing tow ins, biggest waves I have SUP'd for sure then hit the shortboard once the wind turned southerly. Windsurfers on mainbreak in the arvo was at least double mast high +

Crawford, Phonos had heaps of fun waves from dawn till around midday! Best around 10-11.30. Cove & Seconds had waves too, but Dutchies wasn't working & Isos was "off-limits" as mysteriously a couple of tents appeared & the Cottesloe Longboarders had a comp??!! Checked their website, no mention of it, they usually go to Lancelin this time of year.
Is that kosher, that they can just whack their tent up & a banner if a swell appears? Maybe we should start doing the same, inaugural Sup comp at Isos!!!

The word was that the Cott longboarders were scared that Lancelin would be too big.
I totally agree with you next time a decent swell come through lets through up our own tent and call it a comp.

I only got photos and vids of the shortboarding stuff from my old hometown WA mates, they have'nt progressed to SUP yet. Saying that though I dont think I would want to ride a SUP on some of the stuff I have seen so far...beastly stuff!

On the comp thing just set up your own tent, judges, flags etc, you would be amazed how many other surfers clear the water, well mainly the kooks anyway which is what you want. I was a member of Trigg Point Boardriders for many years and we even cleared the point every now and then for just a club comp!
