Wouldn't mind a few tips , how did you attach the camera - have been checking out all the different attachments on e- bay ,

did you find the camera on the paddle got in the road .

Hi Tass. I should preempt by saying I don't have a GoPro, so cannot really comment there. My camera is an ION, and I mount it as below (on another paddle for photos today).
My experience from one go is as follows
1. As a natural stance I chose to have it at the 3 oclock position looking down the shaft from the blade end and slightly to the right. I guess you could have it at midday position if you wanted.
2. The camera is best being just above the blade junction by about 4 cm well along the shaft so that it would be just out of the water when making a stroke
3. The paddle now feels more weighty near the blaade, so I slightly modified my paddling to grip a bit lower with the bottom hand.
4. When on a wave you dont want alot of movement with the paddle, so this cam technique would work best for running a straight line along the wave and using your back foot to turn of the fins like you would with a mal or shorter board. I tried to keep the paddle horizontal and tuck it in with a semicrouch, hence the 3 oclock mount.
5. Obviously paddling onto the wave has been edited out for my clip, but you get some amazing shots as if you were doing a pole vault. Through a trick of eye the footage makes the paddle look like its stationary and the surfer being propelled forward. The other interesting thing is how much flex occurs in the shaft with each stroke.
6. The advantage of the mount on a paddle is that it much easier to turn on ond off while waiting between waves and hence easier to edit.
7. I didnt find it got in the way but the surf was only small and in a bigger surf it would get a bigger pounding esp getting over whitewater.

The bank was first one south of yesterdays spot, ie paddle left from Wanda carpark entry and thats the one

even smaller this am

My memory card maxed out after just a few waves last weekend, its a 64Gb class 10 card - may need to upgrade also.

has about 2 and a bit hours of room (batt only lasts this anyhow) on a 32gb card
