Hi everyone

I have a new carbon paddle ready to cut and glue.

I'm out of epoxy but i do have plenty of PVC blue glue (solvent cement).

I'd wait & buy epoxy tomorrow but I'm keen to get out for a dawn wave. Can anyone offer advice as to whether blue glue will be ok to fix a handle?

Cheers

Five minute Aroldite should work.. That blue PVC glue might be ok but I wouldn't trust it in the long term.

PVC glue will not work on epoxy, as it works by dissolving the PVC to meld the parts.
It will do nothing.

I use Hot Glue to assemble all of my paddles
I never have failures or leaks... but it would be very simple to heat the handle, loosen, add more hot glue and reset it.

Anytime I want to change a blade or handle, I simply heat the area with a heat gun.
Be careful not to use too much heat, as carbon becomes brittle when over heated.
It doesn't take a lot of heat to melt hot glue

thanks everyone - i found some super glue in the shed & used that instead. i've used super glue before on a kevlar paddle and had no issues. plus wrapped the joint in a couple of tight layers of duct tape as well for that extra seal and hold.

bottom line is that I scored some great little beachies at dawn yesterday & got used to the new paddle ahead of tomorrow's forecast long period swell!

Thanks Supthecreek for that great idea, using a hot glue gun.
I'm looking to buy my first fixed length paddle and love the flexibility of being able to change things over.
