The Ocean Addicts Super SUP Sunday is only weeks away! Bellow is a little heads up on what you should expect.

This year the Noosa Festival of Surfing kicks off on the 9th of March with the SUP's events. They have welcomed and encouraged us Stand Up Paddlers to be part of this annual event and I believe it is a privileged and a honor for all us paddle boarders to share and be part of what is such a celebrated event that encompasses all that we live for.

After getting a lot of constructive feed back from the local paddling community we have decided to set a course, have divisions and cater for a race that will suit all paddlers, all abilities and all board lengths.

We are catering this Iconic Ocean Addicts Noosa Festival Of Surfing Race to suit everyone no matter what level of paddler you are and no matter what board length you ride.

The course is going to be about 5km in total length (to be exactly decided on the day) with a start line off shore and paddlers completing a number of laps and returning to the shore on the final lap. Paddlers will only make one pass through the breaking surf section close to the shore on the way to the finish line on the sand. There will be no run leg and all paddlers will start together making for a spectacular race!

If the conditions are prime and Huey is producing clean safe small runners which we expect at this time of year, the course will run through the clean runner section and back out along the coast line making for fun racing and keeping all the action close to the spectators.

The conditions are normally very mellow at this time of year and great care will be taken to set out a course that is suitable for all abilities on the day.

- Pro Women's 12.6

- I'm On Board Mens (Any board you can get your hands on including 12.6 and 14ft)

- I'm On Board Men's Over 40 (Any board [b]you can get your hands on including 12.6 and 14ft)[/b]

- I'm On Board Women's (Any board [b]you can get your hands on including 12.6 and 14ft)[/b]

- I'm On Board Women's Over 40 (Any board [b]you can get your hands on including 12.6 and 14ft)[/b]

- Junior Boys (Under 18 Any board [b]you can get out of your dad's hands on)[/b]
- Junior Girls (Under 18 Any board you can get out of your dad's hands on )

Prize money will be awarded to all the divisions. However In order to lure some of the top performing pro paddlers higher prize money will be awarded to those who choose to sign up on the day for the PRO 12.6 divisions.

The Iconic and prestigious Noosa Festival Of Surfing Trophies will be awarded for all divisions and place winners.

Serious bragging rights awarded to all who enter!

The eyes of the world will be upon this event. It is held at the most iconic and spectacular locations in Australia and is such a fantastic opportunity to Race and Surf in such an environment.

Registration and start time will be a lot later than what has always been for SUP races and events on the Sunshine Coast.

We understand and want to acomodate for all the paddlers who are making the effort to come from a distance.

At this stage no matter if your SUP racing, SUP surfing or dog SUP surfing you need to be on the beach for a briefing at 9am.

On top of this make sure you are there for the XXXX Summer Beach Bar open at 3-8pm and all the other other festivities that follow!

Book a plush house, room, camp site, or in true tradition just sleep in your car or on the beach! Whatever you do just be there!

Holowed out loffs of bread stuffed with bananas is the normal staple breakfast of champions!

COURSE OUTLINE - pending to change depending on surf conditions.

This course set-up will allows the non-elite to only pass through the surf once on the last lap returning to shore - an easy task. The elite will have the challenge of the waves every lap along with a nice section to catch a couple at first point, without much of a run at all...more like 5 steps around a buoy at the water edge.

Just a heads up to let you know that the Mens SUP surf comp is now full.

If we get 12 more surfers on a reserve list we will open the comp up to 36 mens SUP Surfers by putting a first round of 6 heats into the Saturday

We are taking Reserve entries now and we already have 5 confirmed on the list so only 7 spots are left.

Hope this doesn't impact people's travel plans, but we had no way of knowing so many people would enter this year, and we don't want to disappoint anyone. 1 st Round of 36 will be held on Saturday, with 24 progressing into Sunday morning's Round 2.

You would have double that again if you put back in the over 40's & 50's

With the expected numbers for the BOP Race we have reviewed the previous course outline and it looks like there is going to be too much carnage so from a safety standpoint we have made a couple of small changes to allow things to run smoother.

The Amateurs will still have no waves to battle with through the whole course. The elites will have to go through the waves twice on every lap.
The last lap will round the furtherest out turning bouy and head straight in through first point and finish right in the heart of things on the beach.

Yes you can register for the race on the day between 12 and 1pm at the Ocean Addicts tent.

Is the sup surfing at first point if its surf able ?

Just letting you know we have 10x 12.6 inflatable race sups that we are happy to loan anyone who wants to race on the day for free!

They actually really quick! I was absolutely smoked by Andy Davies when he rode one for in the Island Challenge and I was on a 14!!

If you want to borrow a board just give us a call to lock one in and I will bring it to the beach on the day for you.

Hey mate any of those inflatables left , thought id have a 12,6 by now but to many bills to pay. If you have any left id like to use one.
