Discovered yesterday I was actully doing about 25km/h as I was slowly carving along.
Decided I better wear my protective gear.
Experimented with mounting the camera on the front axle so the frame of reference to the road was correct.
Apart from scraping the camera along the ground, went quite well.

Today's effort got a bit long

Wow, that is serious speed - could be a world of pain if you come off no matter what you are wearing.
My trucks are inclined to go all loose and in to a speed wobble above maybe 25k, send me in to a high side.
I like the slower swoopy turns rather than outright speed.

Looks like fun.....think I will stick with my ebike though

Pretty sure that top speed is very short lived maybe 5-6 sec at a guess, I have been breaking with the land paddle on hills I am nervous about previously on my carving board. My new board is much lower to the ground so the tendency to wobble at speed is lower plus I crouch right down as soon as it feels too loose and that helps heaps. Still playing around with foot positions at speed to improve the stability. I have also found crouching right down helps a lot with sharp turns too, just need to turn those into slides and then I will have more control over the board.

What about the trucks Dave, have you played with the tension?

No mate have left them as is the rear truck angle limits the amount of turning ability to give added stability.

It's a longboard, trying to move, crosstep....

Right calf muscle feeling the effects of a bit of an extended session yesterday.
Slow speed carving only, no stepping attempts.

Invested in some more stick on mounts, and a big clamp on one.
Edit from today which again got too long.

Nice gentle carve around the streets.

And - the Volleys! Mate , what a shoe! Perfect for goin for a skate, screwing a roof off and goin out for a couple of frosty Coopers in - and all in the same day.

Volleys for the past 45 years or so - The Wife One does not approve.
Even had a steel capped pair made by King Gee at one point.

And the bit flying off at the end is the lens cover, that I don't think is meant to be removable.


Camera still worked though.


Stopped and managed to force the cover back on with a bit of a push and a twist.
Went on but I may have compromised waterproofness.


Try again.
The Evolve controller comes with 4 speeds - "Safe", "Eco", "Fast", and the other one I'm too scared to look at. I have been in Eco mode so far, today tried changing up to Fast to get up my small hill better. Much faster and more powerful, but the controller kept buzzing and shifting back to Eco, which either means it had assesed my ability, and was suggesting I had made an error, or that the board battery was going flat and it couldn't power Fast mode.

Even walking on slippery ground is a danger to my future surfing... so I leave the street SUPing to you!

My cross stepping practice comes and goes - the anticipation of the fall makes it more difficult.
I have a much better place to do this - a concrete path with thick grass each side - but it is outside my allowed travel radius at the moment.
I'm actually amazed anyone has watched the whole video!
At the moment I'm concentrating on which foot goes behind the other, and keeping that consistant.
I'm OK moving my left foot because my balance on my right is much better, but the hesitation on moving the right is killing me.
The video is actually really good for picking these things up - I think I left a bit in where I do about 100 metres lifting and grounding my right foot without going anywhere.
Enjoying trying anyway!

Keep at it!
Cross stepping is almost an essential move on SUP, for most of us riding boards big enough that they require moving back and forth.
Walking the board is fast and efficient.

Two days of editing later, I'm much better at going backwards than forwards.
Neither is particularly elegant...

No stepping yesterday, but experimented with "Fast" mode, one up from "Eco" rhat I have been using.
Nice carves, and I did inadvertently induce a power slide by hitting the throttle a bit enthusiastically in one turn.

More playing in "Fast"mode.
Gaining confidence in more hair trigger action.
And some interactions with traffic....

Yesterday's attempt at a tighter edit.
Video from off the board looks like I'm going in slow motion.

Upgraded the off board camera set up.
Biggest problem was not snotting the back of the van on the way past.
May be a continuity error in there too.
