SUP Race Details

BOP SUPs Race: Saturday 7 March, Start 2.30pm
Entries now open - http://backbeach.net.au/surf_fest/index.php
All competitors must check in prior to the race, from 12.00pm at the information booth in the Festival Village.
Divisions will be allocated on race day at time of sign on based on age and ability (mens and womens, juniors, 40-50s)
Race briefing will be held at 2pm.
Legropes are compulsory.
Goody bag for all competitors.

Amateur Race 3-5km:
Unlimited board size.
Triangular circuit around three buoys.
Race will start from buoy #1 and finish with a race up the beach and through the flags.

Pro Race 5-7km:12'6" board size only.
Race will begin and conclude on the sand.
Race will consist of four laps of a square circuit.
Competitors will have to paddle through the break, around two buoys, back in through the break and run from flag to flag on each lap.

Shame only the Amateur race is the only class that allows 14" boards. This pretty much blocks 80% of paddlers from doing the longer course. My main issue is that i want to do the 7km race but don't have a 12"6 board.

Oh well. Whinge over.

Please make the amateur race at least 5km at least. (not 3km).

Agree I only own 14foot, and would want to do more than 3km race if making the effort to get up to Noosa. 5km would make it more worth it. or able to compete in the longer distance race on a 14ft.

Board classes suck, but that's another topic
