Any tips on a new wave paddle - have been considering a few - been using a stock GSI carbon and was considering a smaller blade poss Methane or similar - had a recomendation of a new GSI wave paddle as well.

Ride a 9ft Coreban fusion Quad or the thruster set up 1-4ft waves usually - find the big bladed padle spins gets too much power when doing Quick late takeoffs (especially if choppy) and spins the board around without much tail grip with the quads - I do like the ergo handle and wasn't too impressed with the T handle on some I have looked at

Any thoughts

EDIT: Sorry - just found the post about paddles after posted - didn't enlighten me any more than I already was though

My thoughts are get your self a Kialoa Methane..

The smaller blades do take a little getting used to but once you do you'd never go back.

The new Werner Nitro will be a little softer in the shaft (so I've heard) so they might be worth trying.

The new 8" blade Naish paddles are nice and the white blade model is a bargain price.

I don't know much about the QuickBlades but I'm sure they're another good option.

For me it's all about the 'feel'.. so demo first if you can.

Hey russh, re the Quickblade option, the 8" Slim lands next week. It has a similar blade area to the Methane.

There is a review here-

The new SLIM JIM surf blade is available in a few weeks, it is the similar blade area to the PIPES.

All very good paddles. we sell and use them all. The choice will boil down to personal preference, russh.

Thanks for the reponses Quite a few options - chased a few and might get to try some this weekend.

Was going to paddle in the last hour - too choppy and windy for a small wave SUP and not enough to windsurf - AHHHHHHHHHHH

I'll see how things go but after 5 weeks of fried chicken, Budweiser and Brooklyn India Pale ale I,m in no shape to paddle further than the back of U - turns - and even then I need a rest!!!
