I hope to have mine in August.. (I've put an order in) .. Can't wait.

I just came across the first pics of it on the SurfingSports site.. http://www.surfingsports.com/blog.asp

It will be interesting to see how it goes against the 14' Pene..

It's interesting that the Naish race boards look like oversized surfboards.

They obviously work ok but they don't look fast, and they don't look like anything else that is fast in flat water (sea kayaks, racing sculls, etc).

In comparison the Penetrator looks like a fast, displacement hull.

I thought the same thing Gorgo. Whats also interesting is the caption to that photo of Dave Kalama winning Maliko says it was held in flat conditions with no wind. Essentially a flat water race. Whats going on

I would love to see the underneath of one of those boards

Tail of the Naish 14 looks very similar to the Joe Blair 12'6 Racing

And there is a review of it here that also mentions fin positions (not very scientifically!)

Seems like there are lots of shapers trying to work out exactly what works best.

Lobes,

I don't think we will see anything interesting underneath these boards.

Remember the engine is a very important factor here..

It may just come down to what shape you like.. A board that looks like a board.. or a board that looks like a boat..

Jonathan,

I think what Joe has done is get a 14' board.. chop the nose down and chop the tail off square to make the board shorter and usable in the 12'6" class.

(just my opinion)..

Scotty,

I have no idea what the damage will be on these new boards.. Not too much I hope or I may have to cancel my order..
