Thought those doing downwind would enjoy this footage.....great day and shows lots of technique. It all about having fun and this was a really fun run. Aloha
It shows how much pearling it issue with doing DW'ers and why having the right board is so important.

the other trick is to get the board going the right way and moving before getting up again after a fall. its a lot easier than just getting back on any old how cheers
I loved the cam looking forwards how he was not only sitting in the trough but chasing the gaps to get onto the one in front to stay on the wave train.
Absolutely true......the right board is key. These boards have a relatively relaxed rocker so you can and do pearl a bit. But one good stroke and all's right with the world again. Amazingly the lower rocker allows the board to keep the forward momentum right through the dive. Personally, I prefer this to a the alternative nose "flip" as I find it slows the board down enough that it takes a huge effort to get it back to speed.
That everything is dependent on the conditions goes without saying......
You guys could see some of the long rides Alo was getting......the convergence of the two channels around this side of Molokai make the waves stand up pretty good. The wind was a big help too....
