I remember being 42! It's a long story but in short I heard a surf report on Cessnock radio in 1981 about perfect waves and no one out and to get there urgently. I had no maps and no idea where this place was with my board in the car with my girlfriend next to me. I wanted to go but there were no signs in those days on Highway 1.
I have been driving past twice a year now for the past 6 years and either no surf or a bloody Long Board comp is on, not this time all those years later. Mind your the long board comp was on again on the going up trip but I was coming back for this surf.
