Has anyone had any recent SUP trips to the Maldives and in particular staying at the Hudhuranfushi Resort (Lohis) ? Ive scrounged up enough brownie points from the other half to make the trip and just wanted to confirm its SUP friendliness or otherwise before I shell out my hard earnt for it. I'm only of intermediate level, so no death slabs for me please

make sure you paddle out through the harbour if there's any size. it takes a bit longer but no beltings on the way out.

I did Kanifinalo (club kani now I think) a few years back and that was perfect for the Sup, right next door to Lohi's as well. Cruisy right hander. Easy launching etc. Then me and the missus Kayaked down to Pasta point or Lohi's for lunch and a beer as well. With a Sup coulda done the same trip and caught a few waves on the way. Perfect Sup waves IMO

Maldives is an amazing place I think anyone would have a ball there ... Be aware all the waves are reef breaks with some running into deep water and others closing out on an inside shallow ledge ....booties are good!!
Lohis is one of the heavier waves in the Maldives though depends how far up you want to sit on the point there are also some easier waves near by like a fattish right called saltuns which is only a short boat ride away .... All in all I have had some of the smoothest , cleanest waves I have seen anywhere in the Maldives so you should give it a go for sure...

Thanks guys, you convinced me. I was thinking of going to Namotu but World surfaris has 7 day package specials all inclusive for $3000 cheaper for both myself and the missus. Means I can buy a new board to take too

I was in the maldives in Aug/Sept '11. There is some great waves to sup...

I managed a few sessions at Sultans and Jails. Cokes was pretty much a no go zone with all the shortboarders - but if you stick wide- you will be fine!

The waves are amazing and you will have a great trip!!!

Thanks Starlet, Im pretty amped about it. Board wise, do you think that some one of intermediate skill level would get by with just a 9' mana if they were comfortable on it or is something with a bit more speed required ?
