The Magoo Charity Classic is happening again this year and they are including SUPs again.

It's on the 4th and 5th of May 2013. It's a very well-run event with all proceeds going to cancer research. It'll be at Soldiers Beach on the Central Coast which is often epic with the back bombies of Norah Head as a back-up location (pumping last year).

link worked for me, if we don't get a decent roll up this year they will cut us next year and that would be a real shame. so all you surf suppers get there with bells on. I should be back in the water by then. yee ha and yew. bit of a sad story to this years event, after supporting cancer reserch for about 20 years through this comp and having a healthy 80 or so years maggoo himself has been hit hard with a fight of his own. he has stopped kemo, its making him too tired to surf, and is preparing himself for some practice sessions so he can enter this years event hopefully not for the last time! 84 yrs young and still surfing, thats gotta be about 70 yrs wave riding. inspirational man come and meet him.

That's a shame to hear that Magoo is struggling again. He is one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet. He has raised over $300,000 so far for cancer research with these comps over the years - maybe the next generation will benefit from his philanthropy.

He was ripping in last year's Magoo. Hope he is fit enough to compete this year.

i had the privilege of interviewing magoo at last years noosa festival while filming a video for the logger pro division.
off camera he laughed when he realised i was the guy on the sup with the fluro white zinc and red bullseye gath helmet from previous years
